6ws-participating-in-bannerNo time for colour- Barcelona tomorrow!

Here it comes!

Here it comes!

I type this while looking over my shoulder at the prettiest of sunrises, and with a stomache churning with excitement.  It’s all been a little frantic because my daughter arrived home yesterday evening and we have so little time.  The Whitby Goth Festival is on this weekend, and she and Leo intend to visit on their way home tomorrow.  I would LOVE to be there but I’m up at the crack of dawn for my Barcelona flight. (she promises to share photos!)

I have no illusions that I will be able to take photos like this, but you’d better believe I’m going to try!  The forecast is for rain on Sunday, when I arrive, but sunny thereafter.  I can’t wait!

Will I be in Casa Batllo on my birthday on Tuesday?  I don’t really know, but I can think of worse places.  I will be home for Six word Saturday next week though (shame!).

6ws-participating-in-bannerTime to see RED?  Not really!

IMG_0288If you asked me what my favourite colour is, I’d probably say red.  But when I look back through my photos I find that they are predominantly blues.  Often the reds are a wine colour, like the leaves from my Virginia Creeper, above.  Or I’ve used the red as an accent colour, like my favourite dress, which is white with deep blue and red flowers on.

I can have endless arguments with my husband about colour, but it doesn’t really matter.  It’s all beautiful, isn’t it?  No need to see red at all!

Thanks for humouring me this Saturday.  Hope your weekend sparkles, whatever shade it is.  Many thanks to Cate at Show My Face.  Hope she’s feeling better this week.  Do click on the logos or the link to join in.

6ws-participating-in-bannerUplifting YELLOW – the colour of sunshine.

The Autumn colour in Richmond

Autumn colour in Richmond, North Yorkshire

Even a sunshine bird like me can’t help but thrill to the colours of Autumn.   Crispy days, with the water running dark and the sun shining bright…

And glints through the leaves in Autumn

And glinting through the leaves.

Here is my gallery of yellow for this week.  Click on a photo to roll with me.

My kaleidoscopes of colour have brightened my Saturdays over the last few weeks.  I can’t resist the opportunity to add this one to the Weekly Photo Challenge, the hue of you.

Join Cheri’s challenge, or simply stay here, nice and comfy with Cate at Show My Face.  The world’s your oyster!

6ws-participating-in-bannerWhiter than white- the theme continues.

The frock in reverse

Will I ever tire of seeing this frock?

Lisa tells me that she’s worn it three times so far, including once at Carnival in Venice.  That’s not bad going for a wedding dress, is it?  I’ve been dusting off a few white memories myself.

How lovely is this dahlia? It's a huge bloom!

If you click on a photo below it will start the gallery rolling.

I’ve become a person of few words on Saturdays.  Have you noticed?  My husband loves the peace and quiet, but more than that, it seems to fit better with Cate’s challenge.  Thanks for indulging me.

Visit Show My Face to share your six words and read a few others.  It won’t take long!  Just click on the header or the link.

6ws-participating-in-bannerWould you believe,  GREEN this week?

IMG_9952Do you sense a theme going on?  Green has never been one of my favourite colours.  I always feel it needs something else to “lift” it or to provide contrast, but that’s probably my lack of skills with a camera.  In a week of not much happening, I thought I’d try to entertain you with a gallery of green.

It’s such an English colour, isn’t it?  And the colour of that little green demon, jealousy, of which I’m often guilty.  The leaves are falling at an alarming rate, so I guess this is my goodbye to Summer.  Next week’s colour is sure to be Autumn.

6ws-participating-in-bannerLast week PINK , this week blue!

Whitby harbour, North Yorkshire

Whitby harbour, North Yorkshire

It’s been a very Whitby sort of week when it comes to the blog so I may as well finish as I started.  I’m often blue on grey days, but this week I didn’t have much excuse.

How's this for a cliff top view?

Hope you enjoyed the trip?  I still have some more shots for a rainy day. Click on any photo to see the gallery.

Not enough week- too many challenges!

imagesCA3IIGP0So, I’m going to do “a challenge within a challenge”.

PINK!

How boring, I thought!  That means girly things, flowers and sunsets.  But you know from last week that I love flowers and sunsets.  It’s two years this week since my first post and in all that time I’ve only done the CBBH Challenge four times, though I love Marianne’s work at East of Malaga.  Time to up the numbers!

Pretty pink, in Silves

Enough of the flowers.  How about some girly things?  As usual, click on any of the gallery photos for close ups and my cheery commentary.

Anyone got a birthday today?

Anyone got a birthday today?

Which sunset to finish with?  That’s the question!

Do you like this one, reflected in the puddle?

Do you like this one, reflected in the puddle?

Or the drama of this one?

Or maybe the drama of this one?

Well, I guess that’s enough pink to complete this challenge, and hopefully entertain my Six word Saturday readers too.  Thanks, Cate, for double hostessing!

With her challenge, Marianne traditionally invites you to introduce two bloggers whose posts you have commented on in the past month.

I have been following Richard at A Bit of Culture since he started his blog, and long before that with his superb, informative articles on Simonseeks.  Go and say “hi” for me!

Having accepted that Christmas might just be around the corner, I thought you’d like to see Cath’s beautiful craftwork on Lizzie Rose Jewellery.  She likes Portugal too, so we’re bound to be friends.

Naturally, a pink logo to finish!  Don’t forget to visit East of Malaga.

6ws-participating-in-bannerSAD victim? Trying not to be!

Sad cloudThis is the time of year I dread, so I’m taking every opportunity to revel in light, beauty and colour.

Is anything as beautiful as a sunset?

And there’s always beauty to be found in flowers.  Click on an image and smile.

So, no reason to be SAD yet awhile.  Share your thoughts with Cate at Six word Saturday.  It’s a friendly place.

6ws-participating-in-bannerA most unusual point of view

Many’s the time I’ve strolled down Saltburn pier, but it’s never looked like this before.  Roll the gallery for a few smiles.

I felt so sorry for Saltburn when I saw the news this morning.  There was extensive flooding after yesterday’s torrential rain.  This morning they’ll be cleaning up.

Yesterday I posted this young lady in the Weekly Photo Challenge which required a a shot from an unusual point of view.  She is very winsome but not in very good focus.  In retrospect I would have been better using either my first or last gallery photo, don’t you think?  Do you have a favourite?

That’s my six words (and a bit) for this Saturday.  If you’d like to join Cate at Show My Face for Six Word Saturday you’d be very welcome.  The explanation is in the header and the links.

6ws-participating-in-bannerFamily fun in all its guises!

Fun is guaranteed when my Polish family from Norfolk come to visit.  The above shots were taken at Saltholme, a local birdwatching nature reserve.  Click on any photo to follow the story line.

In Durham, we took the Castle tour (Rafal is considering Durham University, based in the Castle, as one of his options).  I was delighted to find that it was the first day of the flower festival in the Cathedral, but it was, of course, busy.

More fun is anticipated today.

What have you been doing with your week?  Share it in Six word Saturday.  The links or the header will take you there.  Hope you have a happy weekend!
