Six word Saturday

The day we went to Otley!

Didn’t we have a lovely time…

What a trip!  I’m back from the UK now, adjusting to Algarve temperatures.  My riverside walk in Otley was a total washout, but I couldn’t stop laughing.  It coincided with a day when ‘rain stopped play’ at Headingley, and folk were queuing at bus stops dressed as sharks or Batman, or whatever else took their fancy.  Totally bonkers!  We spent a jolly couple of hours in the pub, and dripped home.

I had a new camera and, as you may have observed, forgot to remove the date from the shots so it is indelibly printed on my mind.  Another, even wetter day, was spent in a pub in Knaresborough, again in excellent company.  The British fighting spirit!  On my last day my phone died.  Was it the weather?  I am attempting to familiarise myself with a new one…. slowly!

It wasn’t all rain and we had some wonderful times, but I have far exceeded my Six Words.  Lots of stories to tell.  I’ll be back on Monday.  Have a great weekend and make the most of your heatwave! (in Britain)

Got the blues, in the night!

My last July Squares before I disappear for a few weeks. I’m linking this to a walk in Capelas, which will explain more.  Thank you Becky and Debbie for hours of fun.  Have a great weekend!

Some tasty leftovers for Brian’s birthday?

And there’s blue in each square

Happy birthday, Brian!  Sorry I couldn’t get a cake there in time.  Just a few leftovers from the Azores.  Debbie and Becky both have interesting resting places today.  Funny how that happens sometimes?  Go and recline, and have a lovely weekend!

Azorean shades of blue, in Velas!

All’s square in love and war?  Sometimes the sixes are irresistible, as are Becky’s July Squares.  Wishing you all a happy weekend!

What a town!  What a night!

With the long summer evenings there was plenty of time to watch the fun develop.  Tavira Day 2019 was a huge success!

The display of fireworks was spectacular!  And Rui Veloso held the crowd in the palm of his hands as they crooned along with him.  Debbie is celebrating Summer too, over at Six Word Saturday.  Why not join her?  And have a great weekend!

Playing around in the salt pans

The salt pans in summer fascinate.  I will mostly be posting Azores in the coming weeks, but I can’t ignore the crystalline beauty on my doorstep.

It’s party time here in the Algarve.  On Monday, 24th June, it will be Tavira Day and a celebration of Sáo Joáo.  There are paper flowers everywhere, and music and fireworks will fill the air.  I’ll be joining in, of course.  Have a great weekend!  But don’t forget to play with words at Debbie’s!

Azores?  Impossible in just six words!

See the cone shape in the background?  That’s Pico, a volcanic island with the highest mountain in Portugal.  We could see it from our bedroom.

Hard to say which was my favourite island.  Probably Pico or Sáo Jorge, but we had another great bedroom view from Horta, on Faial.

Just the tip of the iceberg.  Come to think of it, that’s a great Six Words! (or maybe, the volcano?)  The captions will help.  Happy Saturday!

Sharing a few memories with friends

It was a great week, in excellent company.  ‘We’ve been so many places, I can’t remember the names!’  The first was Fuseta.  Click on the photos for a clue.  And then pop over to Debbie with six words.  She loves photos!  Happy Saturday everybody…

Yes, I do have tranquil moments!

I don’t spend all of my life zipping about the place, though it may sometimes seem that way.  Thanks for your interest in the flash mob.  It was a wonderful experience and we hope to have a video on YouTube, after editing.  Now I’m going for a cuppa with Debbie on Six Word Saturday.  Have a great weekend!

Those white tents are up again!

I can’t say it hasn’t been a busy week!  Celebrating life at Easter was full of magical moments.  And this weekend, Mostra da Primavera, a show celebrating Spring, with music, dance and good food.  Last night we experienced spectacular Fado, by the riverside in the Mercado.

Today?  Well, it’s World T’ai Chi Day, and at 10.00 this morning I will be taking part in a Flash Mob in Tavira town centre.  Wish me luck!  Sorry, Debbie- I couldn’t say all that in six words.  I’m not ‘up to scratch’.  🙂  Happy Saturday, one and all!
