Six word Saturday

It’s not all lamb and salad!

IMG_4981

Nor is it the best of photos, because it was an exceedingly murky day.  As Mam used to say, ‘it’s not all lamb and salad’- in other words you have to take the rough with the smooth.  Monday just gone was the perfect example of ‘rough’.  As a general rule, our group don’t walk when it’s wet, but we had already set out for Hurworth Burn when the weather decided not to cooperate.  Nothing for it but to pin on the grin and go.

The company was still good, even if the view was… indistinct.  Gorse provided a little colour, but it’s a real contrast with my Burgeoning Spring, isn’t it?  There’s usually a reason to be joyful if you look for it, and I did have the opportunity to practise some Macro.

Pussy willows are lovely, aren’t they, even when wet?  Can’t share them with Jude, because these aren’t in a garden.

I’m walking again next Monday (I’ve booked sunshine!), but that will be my last post for a while.  You might have noticed a lack of Algarve photos lately.  That obviously means it’s time for a bit more ‘lamb and salad’.

Have a happy weekend, whatever your weather!  Spare a minute to drop in on Cate with your six words?

P.S.  I don’t normally do ‘plugs’ but if you saw my 6WS last week and liked the ‘teapot book’ you might like to look at Joanne’s stuff.

  1. I think it’s a stunning shot Jo! I just love the foggy mist in the photo and that little lamb was posing just right for you. So adorable! 😀

These are my types of weather and I absolutely adore your photos darling! They are really perfect! This is nature and you are showing it so beautifully. 😀

Love those Pussy willows. They are really gorgeous!

I know you’re the sunshine girl, but these shots are absolutely stunning Jo! Enjoy, have fun and have a great weekend as well. ♥

    1. Thank you so much for the encouragement, Sonel. 🙂 I know you like this kind of weather and probably don’t see much of it. That lamb was the only one brave enough to stand his ground. His little white friends all scurried away. 🙂
Today started very grey and drizzly but I got a little sunshine this afternoon. Something for everyone 🙂 Hugs, darlin’!

      1. You are very welcome darling and that is one of the reasons why I love Autumn because then we have this misty and foggy weather. I can walk for miles in it. 😀

It’s such a cutie and clearly he knew you’re not there to harm it.

I am glad the sunshine came for a visit and you’re right. There’s always something for everyone. 😀

Thanks and ♥ Hugs ♥ to you sweetness. ❤

    1. My little camera is very hardy, Pops. 🙂 You know I don’t have a proper one. I’m far too clumsy and slipshod to be trusted with expensive equipment. But it does a good job. Thanks, darlin’. You too! 🙂

    1. It has ‘the look’, Robin, doesn’t it? Yes, it is. There are quite a few round our way- old Durham to Darlington line. 🙂
She had some great sayings. 🙂

  3. I think Jude is accommodating! She was happy to accept my park ducks, and I have a feeling that some of her wildlife wasn’t, strictly speaking, n gardens. Oh, I love your pussy willow shots with droplets – so clear and sharp and … winsome, might be my word of choice. Sheep and water and round tunnel are also pretty lovely. When do you arrive in Poland? Happy Algarving, and a happy relaxed weekend.

    1. Winsome is a lovely word, Meg. 🙂 I didn’t want to bombard Jude because she has heaps of shares this week. Have you seen the Cornish blog yet? It’s real- she’s there, at long last. 🙂 🙂
Arrive in Krakow 28th April, and will probably be there till 4th May, which is Adam and Lukasz’s birthday. After that we’ll be in Belchatow but I don’t know exactly how long. I was thinking that Lodz might work as a place to meet? I’ve never been there but it looks interesting. It’s about an hour north of Belchatow, and maybe the same from Warsaw? Hard to make exact plans. I’ll email you. Hugs, darlin!. Hope you’re fully fit soon.

  4. What a brilliant saying, and you were brave going out on that murky day. We were not that brave here on our one murky day! Looking forward to seeing you next week 😊
    PS love the macro shots.

    1. Hi, Becky! 🙂 It wasn’t cold and I do like the area. And the pussy willows and lambs were worth being there for. 🙂
Mam was full of such sayings and it just came into my head as I was watching the lambs.

  5. Love your pussy willow macros, Jo. If you saw my exchange with Meg you’ll know that when they turn yellow, country folk used to call them ‘goslings’ (courtesy of Richard Mabey’s Flora Britannica). Thought you’d like them to go with the lamb and salad 🙂

  6. Ich mag die regnerischen, etwas düsteren Stimmungen, wie Du sie in deinen Bildern zeigst. Vor allem die letzten zwei Fotos gefallen mir sehr gut. Hab einen schönen Sonntag. Ernst

    1. So sorry, Viv! No ambling down country lanes for you this weekend :(. I think it’s pretty universal, and maybe even wet in the Algarve but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. It’s only a short visit because then I’m in Poland with Dad. All go! 🙂 🙂
