You’ve guessed it!  Back in England, I’ve been hanging around on Saltburn pier again, and haven’t they done a grand job?  You might remember my yarn bombing post from last year, and I just had to go and see what they had made of the World Cup.  You don’t have to be a football supporter to love these.  Pick a winner?

Apologies to any I’ve left out (or got wrong!).  I’m not sure that all 32 were there.  Hope I’ve managed to raise a Saturday smile or two.

Don’t forget to share your Six word Saturday with Cate at Show My Face.

  1. I love it when you do your yarn bombing posts Jo, I just adore these delightful knitted figures. Just read your reply above this, how awful that some of them were stolen but yay for the shaming – as you say, how could they?
AS for the football…well, we won’t mention that will we? All I can say is thank God for Wimbledon (although, as I said before, I am a Rafa fan… 😉 )

      1. Woo hoo, can’t wait! Yes, I was watching Andy doing just the same here Jo. Think we’ll be doing the same for the next 2 weeks 🙂

      2. Did I tell you I sat in the lounge bar of a hotel in Tavira in scorching sunshine to watch the final of the French? There’s dedication! 🙂

    1. Hi David 🙂 I love them! Just what we needed after the ‘disappointment’.
I didn’t see any sort of a plaque with names, but there was a ‘knit’ that said ‘please don’t steal these’, or words to that effect!
The Scarecrows were on in the villages yesterday so guess where I’ll be off to next? And then it’s Wimbledon 🙂

      1. Of course! I’m still re-watching my recording of the French final 🙂 I had to go to a local hotel and sit in the lounge on a scorching hot day to see it the first time. Such dedication, but it was worth it!

  2. Awesome! Certainly brought a smile to my face. What creative and talented knitters. The shots that capture the tiny people in the background are really cool.

      1. Yep. I went to the physio yesterday. One knee has a bit of fluid in it from the tumble. The other creaks a bit, but it is not so painful to walk…and the black eye is disappearing. She even managed to sort out my sinus a bit, and the back. God how I love that woman.

      2. Didn’t know you’d had a fall, Jo! Just thought you were ‘under the weather’. (back to the rain again, you see!)
        Look after yourself!

    1. Trying to generate a few smiles from a calamity, Ad 🙂
Well- it’s just a game, isn’t it? (I’m saying that very quietly in case ‘someone’ hears me)

  3. oh my gosh – love love love these gran creations – I cannot write much now so I am coming back –
but also wanted you to know that I did not think I was going to have a walk to share this week – but when the boys all came home last night – the hubs and I slipped away for a bite to eat – and we then took a short walk at dusk – and of course I thought…. why not grab a few shots for my walk with restless Jo – so I shall be be back to share those pics in a couple days – peace out restless one….

      1. no moonlight at all – but a few streetlights – lots of doors – sidewalk shots and an old fire station turned restaurant. so nothing fancy – but it screams Richmond… and one guy was walking by and was puzzled as to why I was taking a photo of a door – lol

  4. I absolutely love, love this post, enjoy reading the caption 🙂 I do remember the fun and creative yarn post you did last year.
I have been watching the World Cup with hubby, really exciting 🙂

  5. These are fabulous! I wasn’t sure what to think about the ones you posted last year but these are great! What fun! To answer you question on my blog, I haven’t started selling my cards yet. I have an etsy store set up but just to lazy to actually list anything. I should though because I have 100’s of cards just sitting around. I tend to just make them and then not send any out… Would you believe I don’t even send out the Christmas cards I make. Sad but true! I need to get off my backside and just do it! Thanks for the push! Hope your week is wonderful!

    1. I’m amazed you don’t sell your cards, Tonya! I just assumed you did. I know there’s a lot of competition out there, but what’s to lose?
I love the yarn bombing trend, and putting this post together gave me so much fun 🙂

  6. Aren’t they absolutely gorgeous? So clever and such skill! I love Ms Japan and the Russian dolls, but they are all great. So glad you took the time to go and photograph them 🙂
I’ve no interest in the football, but looking forward to Wimbledon – my blogging is going to take a nose-dive over the next two weeks I’m afraid.

Have a good rest of the weekend Jo – ooh and have you heard about our friend Cathy’s decision?
    Jude xx

    1. June is always a crazy English month. We have the Scarecrows festival on in the villages this weekend, so you’ve been warned! 🙂
Cathy’s going to China, right? She was waiting for visa confirmation when I was last in touch. Can’t keep a good girl down!

      1. Apparently so. Not somewhere I want to go to, but I’m sure she’ll have a great time as she is very enthusiastic about it and desperate to get work. Seems madness that she can’t find work in the US with her qualifications, but perhaps her heart just isn’t in it there.

      2. The ticking clock syndrome, I think! She’s certainly tried but not found anything she’s prepared to do.
China’s not top of my list but I wouldn’t say no 🙂

    1. So sorry, Ana! I had a couple of photos of Argentina but they missed the ‘cut’ apart from the guys on the ‘laidback’ shot. I’ve put an update in. 🙂 Who’s going to win? Not that you’d be biased, of course 🙂

    1. Just brilliant, aren’t they, Jill? Football is a bit of a delicate subject in the UK right now so I’ve kept it light-hearted! Yes- gotta love the small nations 🙂

    1. It usually survives the rain quite well, Viv. Last Summer some of the knits were stolen! How mean is that? But I think they were returned after the local newspaper ‘shamed’ the thieves. I don’t suppose they’ll survive unpicking. Probably dangle on the end of the grandbairn’s bed? 🙂
