Six word Saturday

6ws-participating-in-bannerWould you believe,  GREEN this week?

IMG_9952Do you sense a theme going on?  Green has never been one of my favourite colours.  I always feel it needs something else to “lift” it or to provide contrast, but that’s probably my lack of skills with a camera.  In a week of not much happening, I thought I’d try to entertain you with a gallery of green.

It’s such an English colour, isn’t it?  And the colour of that little green demon, jealousy, of which I’m often guilty.  The leaves are falling at an alarming rate, so I guess this is my goodbye to Summer.  Next week’s colour is sure to be Autumn.

Time to see what’s befallen my friends on Six word Saturday this week.  Follow the links or click on the header to visit Cate at Show My Face.

  1. I have to say green is not one of my favorite colors except when all the lovely green vegetables are sitting in a salad bowl ready for me to eat. But you did a great job of capturing green…

    1. I discovered today that the lantern is called physalis, Cathy. Just a little more knowledge aquired from my blogging friends. When I sit in the arbour those bells on the windchime drive me batty whenever I shuffle 🙂

      1. Oh, Jo, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to remember that name: physalis! Chinese lantern was a much easier name to remember. Don’t let the windchimes drive you batty! 🙂

  2. I’ve never been too fond of green either, though I don’t seem to be able to get away from it.
From early school days of green uniforms (even both the schools houses I were in were green) to a hubby who’s favourite colour is green.
Give me yellow any day 🙂

    1. When I think of some of the beautiful landscapes I’ve seen, Marion, I have to acknowledge its part. Let’s just say it’s my least favourite colour 🙂 Thanks, hon.

    1. It began quite innocently, Andrew, but it’s developing a life of its own 🙂 I forgot to put my green Gateshead bus in, with the Angel of the North sprayed across its side. Ah well- there’s always another challenge!

    1. Thanks, Madoqua 🙂 I say I don’t love the colour but I couldn’t help admiring the different shades in the trees and hedges as I walked back from town this morning.

  3. Entertaining indeed; and beautiful. Thanks. Here in “New” England, all our greens are going gold and red. Also beautiful. Apparently a major photo-op, judging by all of the “flatlander” shutterbugs congregating. We’re always glad they come to visit, especially as they leave so much of their green (ie greenbacks) here with us.

    1. Football pitches and endless fields with grey skies have scarred me for life, Sonel (smile 🙂 ) But I smiled at all the trees on my way through the park this morning. Thank you!

    1. I associate it too much with endless fields and dismal skies, Paula, but as I walked home this morning I found myself admiring the subtle shades of leaves. Still, I’m more of a red or burgundy person, and I love white but can never keep it clean for 5 minutes. 🙂 What’s your favourite colour?

  4. Verde que te quiero verde
    verde viento verdes ramas
    el barco sobre la mar
    el caballo en la montaña.

Verde, que yo te quiero verde.

Con la sombra en la cintura
    ella sueña en la baranda
    verdes carne, pelo verde
    su cuerpo de fría plata.

    Federico Garcia Lorca

    buongiorno Giovanna

I love the Green, as Federico Garcia, some of your shots are gorgeous, I loved that little acorns, but especially the orange of physalis, large flourishing in my garden, with leaves still completely see, coglieò alucuni branches soon to put them upside down, dry, and make beautiful compositions for my home

    1. I love Lorca 🙂 I didn’t know the name physalis, so thank you for teaching me English, Ventis (Latin English 🙂 ) Have a wonderful weekend, cara, and thank you for the lovely poem.

  5. I love your green gallery of photos! I think the first is my favourite though. But then again I love green 😉
And the Physalis is beautiful as well!
