A most unusual point of view
Many’s the time I’ve strolled down Saltburn pier, but it’s never looked like this before. Roll the gallery for a few smiles.
I felt so sorry for Saltburn when I saw the news this morning. There was extensive flooding after yesterday’s torrential rain. This morning they’ll be cleaning up.
Yesterday I posted this young lady in the Weekly Photo Challenge which required a a shot from an unusual point of view. She is very winsome but not in very good focus. In retrospect I would have been better using either my first or last gallery photo, don’t you think? Do you have a favourite?

Owww I love your photos! I love the knitting projects too, we call it ‘wild knitting’ in Dutch (literal translation) but I guess in English it’s ‘knitting bomb’? (read it in one of the comments). Anyway I love it: it is all so cheerful and whimsical! I think the two little houses are my favourites! Thanks for sharing. Love it 🙂

Last year a lot of them appeared on the railings above the beach as part of the Royal Jubilee celebrations. They lingered for quite a while. I’m not sure how long these have been here, though I’ve been told that some were stolen and only returned after local press coverage. Funny old life, isn’t it? 🙂

I love it Jo – what incredible whimsy! When we were in Vilnius last year lots of the huge trees had knit sweaters encircling their trunks. It was wonderful~ 🙂 ~Terri

I first saw the sweater look in a small seaside town in Norfolk and thought it was fabulous! It works so well on the pier here at Saltburn.
I’ll definitely have to spread my wings in Eastern Europe, Terri! Tallin or Vilnius- or both? 🙂

Our Saltburn one, Eunice? They’ve been doing it for a year or two but this year’s the first time they’ve used the pier and it looks great. I totally love them. 🙂

these are all great! so hard to pick a favorite but Gone Fishing is at the top of my list as well as the first jelly fish. What an interesting idea. I didn’t notice your out of focus photo but I have oldish eyes 😉 Great gallery of fun photos!!

🙂 More might be better, Jo, but I like your mermaid better than the slanting huts et. al. I do hope there wasn’t water into the homes at Saltburn. We had 33 inches of water in our home in 1979 and it was terrible.
Please don’t feel badly about not having anything funny to say about my glass truck post. I would describe the post as being weird and only might it be funny if in a funny-weird way. 🙂

There’s a stream runs into the sea, Jim, and it’s prime territory for flooding. I know the car park was under water and the little steam railway track that runs through the valley. It’s dry and bright today so hopefully the worst is over. I can imagine it being horrendous to be flooded. I’m grateful we live at the top of a bank (except when I carry the groceries up it 🙂 ) Thanks for your concern.

Knit and Purl got me! And the beach huts 🙂 It was glorious when we were there on Thursday but then torrential yesterday, so they’ll be soggy. We’re definitely turning the corner into Autumn but I refuse to accept it! You’ll be happy, Cathy 🙂

Oh, haha, such wonderful whimsey. I marvel at such creativity since I am ALL THUMBS. The potholders that everyone used to make in grade school? Mine were were not blister proof as they were full of holes. Thanks for making this left brained blogger very happy!
