Hi! I’m Jo! Johanna when I’m feeling posh, Jan to my Dad, and Joasiu to my Polish family. A bit of a mix-up, that’s me. The one constant, however, is my restless nature. I love to travel and to explore our world. It doesn’t have to be the big wide world. I can be ridiculously happy not too far from home, so long as I’m seeking new horizons. Of course I have a wish list, and it was to help me fulfil my dreams that I started to write travel guides for a venture called Simonseeks. I’d always kept a travel diary, and it was hugely satisfying to share my experiences and to make new friends who shared my passion for travel. Alas, Simonseeks hit a few troubles, but I still find myself writing about my travels. I’ve become addicted. I’d love to share them, and to make more friends. So, it has to be a blog- right? Or do I mean- write?

Of its kind

Becky is sharing a great sculpture today, along with a wonderful extravaganza of Squares. It’s lucky our clocks went back last night so I have an extra hour in which to enjoy them all. I’m responding with a sculpture which Becky won’t yet have seen. It appeared kinda mysteriously, on a disused chimney on the road out to Quatro Aguas, Tavira. It’s kinda quirky! Have a great Sunday!

A kinda nice place to sit

The wall is a little shabby but this remains one of my favourite places to watch the world drift by. There’s a little kiosk that sells coffee and pastries, and even, if you’re good, a little tumbler of wine. And on a quiet day the ferryman will join you. Have a good weekend!

Kind of idyllic

I make no secret of the fact that I love where I live. When you can find shells like love hearts on the beach, and a pretty little church upside down in the tidal pools. An expanse of beach all to yourself, complete with soft ripples and seaweed necklace. Never mind that a seagull with big feet got there first. Scramble nimbly over the rocks to the dinky lighthouse, if you’re steady on your feet.

Do you see the lady running, in the rivulets of tide? Wind blowing in her hair. Rushing to meet the sun. The clouds were scudding that afternoon. Another heart, drawn in the smooth sand. It could be mine.

The kindness of nature

Frangipane

I had a last minute change of heart this morning when I saw Becky’s post, and decided to cheer her up with something of the natural kind. It always works for me. Please go and say hello.

Cee’s Flower of the Day

Looking kindly

The cutest little face. I think mum may be taking him to kindergarten. After yesterday’s fright, this is a lovely share, and I’m happy to say that I spent much of the night listening to raindrops. Actually they were hammering down! It will be nice to see the grass this green again.

Kinda scared!

I wouldn’t want to meet him on a dark night! Found on the back streets of Monte Gordo. Perhaps he just needs a little kindness?

The cork kind

I don’t know about you, but Cee has been making me smile throughout this series of October Squares by increasing the number of items in her daily squares. Before it all gets out of hand I thought I’d share 18 corks, as my contribution on this, the 18th October. Becky has thoughtfully linked my generous portions of cake to her Squares roundup today, and if you’re going to visit them all you might well need a glass of the good Portuguese stuff by the end. Have a great Sunday!

Would some kind person paint me?

Just one more aspect of Ponte Romana, Tavira but, you have to admit, those railings need a coat of paint. Join in with Becky’s October challenge, or you could be ingenious with Debbie? Happy Saturday!

Two more of a kind

One of the delights of Becky’s October challenge is the many Different Kinds of squares we’re treated to. Have a lovely day, everyone!
