Spanning a river and several challenges
When Ann Christine suggests we Pick a Word on the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge, I’m tempted. But when Paula offers another five on Thursday’s Special… what’s a woman to do? Give in, graciously!
Several bridges Span the river in Tavira, including Ponte Romana, a Roman bridge that isn’t; an uninspiring but very functional road bridge that soars across the water, and a small scale model of the same, nearing completion, to replace the former dilapidated Military Bridge. Construction of the latter has certainly been a challenge!
One of my favourite things is sailing out of this river to the Ilha beyond. Exuberant water fizzes and gurgles as it washes surfers and fishermen alike. So often flat calm, I love the sight and sound of leaping waves.
Two out of ten will do for now, don’t you think? And far too many words for Six Word Saturday! Have a good one, everybody!

These challenges can suck you in Jo.

Things are good here as well! Awaiting the arrival of our grandson who is 9 days late. Seems he is quite comfy right where he is.💕

Who can blame him, but I bet you’re impatient 🙂 🙂 Congratulations for any day now!

The Cornish surfers wouldn’t be very impressed with those tame waves Jo! Maybe a bit of fun for body boarders, but at least your temperatures will be warmer! Do you ever swim in that lovely sea?

I’m not a swimmer but I often wish I was. Nazare is the place for the big ones. Ours is so often flat calm that I love to see it jump about a little bit 🤗🏖️🌊💕

Doesn’t take much to excite you does it? 😁
How’s the boy? Heard that Leeds is under scrutiny at the moment due to high rates of infections.

Easy pleased is one of my better faults. 🤣 Yes, the area isn’t doing well but I think he’s resigned to that. I just wish one of his interviews would produce a job. 😔💕

At least he is getting interviews? My grandson is becoming very depressed, he failed his driving test last week too and now has no confidence whatsoever. So hard when starting out in life when there are no job prospects.

Arrgh! Did he take it too early? Lots of people fail first time but that’s no help. I know – I never got around to a second try. What does he want to do jobwise? 😑💕

2nd fail. But he hasn’t had lessons since April, but he has been going out with his mom. Stalled the car and then panicked. Job wise he wanted an apprenticeship with a media / graphics company, but they pretty much stopped offering them when we went into lockdown. Probably apply for a uni course in November if nothing else is possible.

I am only around 70km from the ocean but 10kms from 2 rivers. Couldn’t afford to buy a big plot of land close to the sea. Anyway the soil is better here and I have heaps more birds and animals and not as many tourists 😀

If I wasn’t a lazy wretch, who doesn’t like to go digging in my folders, I have lots of photos of the bridges, but I like the evening light in the first and the long shot of Ponte Romana. It was taken just yesterday after an effervescent visit to the Ilha 🙂 🙂 Thanks, hon! Happy Saturday!

Beautiful phots, Jo … can I join in leaping across the surf as it pounds its way to shore?😀😀 ! It looks wonderful and I like the various bridges and they are so important! Locally a couple of bridges are being repaired and resulting in twenty mile detours for local residents! Wishing you a wonderful weekend … the sun has returned here and the coast beckons! Might even find some gentle rolling waves! Xx 😀❤️

Leap away! I hope you find some, Annika 🙂 🙂 We’ve been moaning because we have to walk an extra 50 metres or so to cross the river 🙂 But mostly I’ve been moaning about the cranes ruining my skyline. And I did so like the old raggy, but unsafe, bridge.
