I really wasn’t planning to post this at all, and nothing could be further removed from my recent highly genteel walk at Newstead Abbey, could it? One of the highlights of my Christmas was a trip to the cinema to see the new Star Wars movie, in the company of my husband and son. I loved it!
I had already been introduced to BB8 on Christmas morning, when this small but endearing creature was rocking and rolling around my kitchen floor. An unexpected present to my son. Brings out the child in all of us! Elegant though she may be, my daughter was always a Star Wars fan too, and I have fond memories of taking her to the cinema, all those years ago.
What triggered this post? Why Paula, of course! You know Thursday’s Special.
Wonderful photo for the challenge, great story…Strange how the really simple things in life can touch us and be so special.

I haven’t seen Star Wars yet – but I still hope to before it leaves the cinemas. BB8 does indeed look cute!

It’s a great movie, Elaine! I enjoyed the original and this for me has the same magic, with a few surprises of its own. 🙂

I’ve been told that there are some great storyline surprises. Mr Decisive has seen it, but I don’t think I will have any difficulty persuading him to go again.

It was my son’s second time. He’d already seen it in 3D and our showing was the ordinary one. Good enough for me 🙂

Good heavens does it just do what it wants if you turn it on? anything useful like sweep the floor? 🙂

Nothing remotely useful, Gilly! just a lot of cute burbling. If you like that kind of thing 🙂 🙂

Well, how could I possibly go past a post with a picture of BB8?! 🙂 We got nagged almost daily from the day it opened “When are we going to see Star Wars?” To be fair, it was getting tricky to avoid spoilers but it was good to wait and build up the anticipation. Fortunately, it didn’t disappoint.

I missed all the spoilers and was gobsmacked when it happened, Heather. He’s my hero! 🙂 🙂

I enjoyed it too. We went to the movie theater with a group of friends and I surprised to see so many people my age there. We all had a good time.

Many of them would have seen the original and followed along ever since. I know I did, even when I thought they were losing the plot! 🙂

Ha, there were several robots in my house many years ago, my two youngest boys loved robots and I even made a robot cake for my youngest’s 3rd birthday! Shame, I have just given them all their childhood photos otherwise I could have scanned it for the challenge. As you say, the child in us never disappears 😀

We’ve had more than our share in the past too, Jude. This was a surprise Christmas present from his girlfriend, and the delight on his face was like a throwback to childhood. 🙂 Funny thing is, her parents surprised her with one too! The Disney Store triumphs again 🙂

How sweet he is! It’s I retesting to see what people have come up with for this challenge. I’m stumped for now. 😃

I had no intention of taking part, Ad. I only do challenges that appeal to me and this one didn’t. But old friends, and all that…and I remembered that I’d taken just this one shot on Christmas day. Why ‘waste’ it? But it was just a nice memory for me. 🙂

We also did the Star Wars movie over the holiday and loved it! Though I’m feeling a bit letdown now…..I didn’t get this cute little fella in my kitchen….he does look so amusing, Jo.

He burbles very sweetly, but not much use with doing the dishes. I always wanted a house droid 🙂

He’s a cute little fella, Jo. Don’t hate me, but I’ve never seen a Star Wars movie. I’m sure I’m missing out.

What’s to hate? You’re not alone! It’s just one of those things I got hooked on when I was young and impressionable, and then my kids carried on the addiction. 🙂

That BB8 is adorable. I’m sure all of you were amused at it moving around the floor at home. Glad to hear you had a good time watching the Star Wars movie. I’m sure it was a packed cinema 😀

It had been running a few weeks and we went to an afternoon performance on New Year’s Eve, so it was pretty quiet. Which I much prefer. Less popcorn munching to listen to 🙂

Just as well because he’s not much help in the house 🙂 Jock safely back and fruit supply restored?

Not quite safely! He fell and dislocated his thumb – swiftly replaced and strapped by 2 of the multitude of doctors present. Fruit acquired today.

I love when certain toys and gadgets bring out the fun In all of us – and sometimes I remember he holiday by what was humming, twirling around, or being assembled in January- and one toy we still all remember used batteries fast and had an annoying Saying that said “change the batteries….”
Anyhow – I like those floors – nice light wood – ❤️😉

Nothing was further from my head, Paula. I was all set to go with some stormy photos with the Polish family, over on Hartlepool Headland yesterday. But I suddenly remembered Christmas morning, creeping around my kitchen floor, trying to get a shot of the flashing lights as he beeps. Unsuccessful! 😦 But yes, very cute 🙂 It’s always worthwhile if I can make you smile, Paula.
