Six word Saturday

Hello, and how are you all?

The 'tents' return to Tavira

The ‘tents’ return to Tavira

What a fortnight, but what to select to show you what I’ve been up to?  In brief, of course.  More by luck than planning, the Mediterranean Diet Fair took place whilst I was in Tavira, which accounts for those little white tents and the variety of goodies within. It marked the end of an extremely hot Summer, in which the evenings were soothed by riverside entertainment.

The days were spent mostly wandering beaches.  I discovered a new obsession with buoys.  And I continued my exploration along the west coast of Portugal, up into the beautiful Alentejo.

Then there was the excitement that was the Medieval Fair at Castro Marim, with both castelo and mighty fortress an arena for combat, and an array of stalls and distractions.  Plus an evening of sand sculptures at FIESA.

I even managed to combine Morning Glory for Gilly with a hint of metal bench for Jude!  Yes, it was a fine holiday, and there are many tales to tell.  Gilly is going to the Algarve soon herself, and Jude always extends a warm welcome, so pop in and say ‘hi’ to them both.

I have to decide where to take you walking on Monday, and then I have a wedding in Poland, so I’ll miss Six word Saturday again next week.  I hope you’ve all had a great Summer, and if you’d like to share it with Cate I’m sure she’d be pleased.  See you soon!

    1. I’ve just about paused for breathe since I got back late Thursday, Mary. I was greeted with warm sunshine yesterday but the rain is bouncing right now. Plenty of catching up to do, not to mention the son’s washing! 🙂

      1. Hi Jo,
I haven’t yet blogged about our anniversary yet. But we did have a great time, indeed. Not so much on the beach, but just enjoying ourselves. And the food! 😉 I did post a few pictures of the dunes, btw, on my “Bilderbuch Blog” [http://tinyurl.com/pjdmr34].

      1. All is well here, Jo, just trying to get geared up mentally for that course starting Monday! I dread that commute into D.C. Ugh!! Oh well, once I get used to it, I should be okay. It only lasts one month so I hopefully can survive it. 🙂

The Azores at Christmas? That sounds wonderful! I hope you go so I can come along vicariously!! 🙂

  1. All great photo’s Jo! I can’t pick a favorite. Glad to see you back even if it is just for a week. 🙂 Hope you have a great time at the wedding, I’m looking forward to seeing what you capture with your camera.

  2. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh… so many delights I don’t know where to start! Welcome home, I missed you! Love the church, shame with that name it doesn’t have any misericords or does it? Anyway those gorgeous tiles make up for it. That beach. Stunning. Say no more. Hot summer? Warm evenings? Why am I heading for Cornwall? And a tantalising glimpse of a bench! I envy you. ❤ ❤

    1. Jude, that wasn’t the best beach! 🙂 🙂 I had 1200 photos from the 2 weeks. Where to start indeed! I have to admit I didn’t check for misericords. The azulejos are such a distraction! 🙂

When are you back in Cornwall? You could buy a house in the Algarve more cheaply I bet, and with less aggravation, but we’ve kind of had that conversation, haven’t we? 🙂 Thanks for the enthusiasm.

  3. Such scenic images, Jo. Love the Alentejo beach one. The tide is putting on a great show, what a pattern. The sand sculpture of Beethoven looks impressive, so life-like. He looks serious 🙂

    1. I’m only gone 6 days this trip, Debs. Just long enough for a bit of dancing 🙂
Thanks, it really was fabulous! I’m steadily making inroads into Alentejo too, and I like what I’ve seen so far.

    1. You missed the word in front of DIET – Mediterranean – though I kind of like your idea of a diet fair. One I should attend instead of the food festival taking place this weekend with its sausage, ale and bread trails. Nothing Mediterranean about that!!

    2. I came home to radiant sunshine, Robin, but something’s gone awry!

I do think it’s a silly name for a festival, but your missus would like it. If ever you decide to try the Algarve it’s a good time of year. 🙂 Fig licor and tangerine flavoured gin- might even appeal to you?
