If you saw my posts about Castle Howard at Christmas this week, you’ll know I’m quite fond of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire too. I noticed that they’ve extended their opening hours into the New Year. Here’s a peek at their video if you think you might be tempted?

This was my second shot at Six word Saturday this week. I was Nordic walking on the beach on Thursday, playing with my phone camera (the others were not amused- it was way too cold to linger!) A big black cloud swept in, showering us with hail and sleet, and the camera point blank refused to work. Remember my ‘let it snow’ post last week?

I love that shot: vast expanse of beach and sky; footprints and shells; and then the centre triangle of rocks and settlement, with triangles of blue water. Today I activate my iPhone – if I can find it in my caravan chaos. We are heading for a solstice celebration with eight of us at my daughters: low key and no presents, so I’m totally calm!

Oh, it really was! But I survived (actually, couldn’t stop giggling as I tried to hang on to my hood in the howling wind). Put tree up yesterday and all’s right with the world. (fingers crossed) 🙂

It was lovely and bright when we first got there, Colline, then the sky went black! It came out again after the weather had done its worst but we were back at the cars by then 🙂

I LOVE Chatsworth House! It’s only around 30 minutes’ drive from my hometown so my sister and I have already agreed to go over Christmas 🙂

I’ve done my running around for the day now, Yvette. I can just sit beside my ‘twinkling’ snowman on the tree and catch up on WP. (I’m sure there’s another post there, somewhere 🙂 )
