Did I tell you about Girona?

Striking, isn’t it?
My day trip from Barcelona. There’s a story or two to tell, but as I only have six words, it’ll have to be pictorial. Just click on the gallery.
It’s a city of cobbled streets and arcades,
tall buildings,
a stunning cathedral,
with a majestic location
and cloisters.
It has the sweetest weathervane
and the longest town walls,
with interesting views over the city.
but I wasn’t fond of the bollard that tripped me up!
There are smart cafes,
and interesting architecture.
A table up some steps beckoned to me
In the shade of the lovely buildings I could watch passersby.
Girona in a nutshell. I wanted to come here in May for the flower festival, but it was more peaceful in November, and a wonderful escape from the city.

Beautiful, isn’t it?
I’m playing Six word Saturday, thanks to Cate at Show My Face. Click on the links or the header and you can play too. Happy weekend!

Girona looks so beautiful! I was supposed to go there for a travel blogger conference last year but I couldn’t make it.
I really hope to visit next time I go to Barcelona. 🙂

Beautiful photos, Jo! Girona is such a gem isn’t it? So many people never make it out of Barcelona and miss out on the smaller, more peaceful cities and towns. Glad you made it to Girona! I’m itching to go back!

Thank you! As always I’d have liked more time, and maybe Figueres and Monserrat, but you just have to enjoy what you can and Girona was great 🙂

Yes, you do and it looks like you made the most of your time! Figueres and Monserrat are both wonderful – hope you make it back!

I love bridges, Tina. There are about 5 as the river winds through the centre and they make for some great shots. Thanks a lot 🙂

Ah, my kind of town Jo, I could happily walk around there all day with my camera. Although I can hear it now, ‘How many more photos do you need!’ Only joking, she is really very tolerant 🙂

It’s definitely a photographer’s town, David. It was hard to narrow it down to these shots 🙂

I was glad we went, Karen. I wasn’t sure if we could justify the time away from Barcelona, but it was a lovely day out. 🙂

This is a truly beautiful gem – never heard about before and I been in Barcelona 4 times. A good reason for going back for me. Love your photos – my favorite is the steps with the table.
Just sitting and having a Mango cheesecake – only a couple of meters from the ocean in Portpartick. Enjoying myself and helping my friends with their curtains for the dinning room. Tomorrow are we moving down to Dublin. Life is so good … and my butt is so sore. Loads of Scottish hugs …

Oh, your poor butt! It seems so unfair. 😦
I remember Portpatrick so well. You’re really not very far away and I’m blowing you kisses 🙂 Have a wonderful time in Dublin, Vivi. Big hugs xx

Jo, my butt has been behaving very well the last days, but I got a very sore neck on Sunday evening – and talk about pain, gone this morning. Something I get once in a while – and it normal take up to a week before it goes away – I get it instead of a cold. Woke up this morning and it’s gone – singing of joy just now.
2 days left of my tour and I really had a brilliant time.
Maybe it was your kisses that sorted my neck out. *smile

I had a choice in college, Barcelona or Costa Rica. I wish I chose Barcelona, it looks beautiful there. No Gaudi architecture?

Another nice day out with you Jo. I’m so glad you’re not a “lounge around the swimming pool” sort of gal 😀
If I do ever get to this part of Spain I now have plenty of tips on what to do and where to go.

To be honest, I can do my share of lounging on a beach, Jude, but even then, I’m choosy about the beach. Got to look for the good ones, don’t you? 🙂
