colour 2021

Reluctant purple

What does purple look like to you? I’ve been somewhat demented in the last couple of weeks, even though Jude supplied me with a palette to help matters. I thought purple was purple, not that plummy, damson colour, and it seems I have a distinct fondness for violet, at the bluer end of the spectrum. Oh, what the heck? It’s only a challenge, isn’t it? And the point is to take photos you like and that are interesting. Don’t you think?

(You do need to open the gallery to see the photos in full. Block editor loves to chop them off!)

When is purple, pink? Or violet? Don’t ask me! I’m just an innocent bystander. Happy Monday everyone!

CMMC – May Color – Purple

Six word Saturday

One last serious look at pink

Here we are, rolling into May, and a happy Bank Holiday for many of you. Here in the Algarve it’s Dia de Trabalhores (Labour Day) today and Mother’s Day tomorrow. The restaurants are allowed to stay open into the evening for the first time in ages and the borders reopen too. Cause for celebration? I’m having 3 bites at the cherry with this random selection from Faro (and my patio). Six Words for Debbie, a smidgeon of Pink for Jude and a Last on the card, for Brian. Happy weekend, everybody!

Bright memories – 2

I don’t want to square this, though I could pretend it’s pink. I’m wandering back in time to Torbole, in the north of Lake Garda, and just around the shoreline from my previous image. It looks flat calm. and tailor-made for an icecream, sitting on one of those benches with a view. I’m sure we did! It was one way to keep a small boy still for a while, as we gazed at the splendour of mountain scenery. But in the afternoons a fierce wind would blow, stirring that calm to a frenzy, and the windsurfers would take to the water in droves. Remembering it still hurts my eyes, with the glare of the sun on the waves.

There will be more. It’s one from a box of photos I scanned before leaving the UK, more than 2 years ago now.

Bright memories

For some time I’ve been thinking about a wander down Memory Lane with you, but then yesterday I was searching the chaos of my past life. I didn’t find the pink palace at Estoi that I was looking for, but I was transported back in time to a place that I love. I’m sure many of you will recognise it. The magical light on the water and the allure of the backdrop of mountains.

The photo is not mine, and I have manipulated it to fit with Becky’s Squares but I’m sure he will still be pleased to see it. A pink house for Jude, or is it terracotta? Do you know where it is?

Monday greens

Beside the Rio Giláo, Tavira

Just me, having fun with green. Can’t stay gloomy all the week. Happy Monday! (maybe better if you open the galleries?)

Life in Colour

P.S I just realised, it should be a Monday walk day! Come back later?

Green with envy?

My Hula girls, luxuriating in green

Green is the backdrop to our world, right now, here in the Algarve. Winter rains have refreshed and revitalised the land and filled the reservoirs. It’s a joyful sight because our summer heat can be fierce, and by September everywhere looks parched.

It’s Monday wash day again, but I’m living Life in Colour with Jude. Have a good week!

Gathering lemons

My very own! Lemon singular, though the tree promises more.

Bottled gas is often used in Portugal. It was a number of years before our street went over to mains. Till then the gas bottle sat on the doorstep.

Santa Luzia, where I’ve whiled away many an hour. Also on the Algarve Cycle Trail, strewn in places with beautiful osteospernum.

Life in Colour– with Jude. Mostly yellow!

Mellow Yellow

Undecided whether to throw all my eggs in one basket (and make scrambled eggs- nice and yellow!) or to saunter through the month, trailing yellow behind me for Jude’s Life in Colour Challenge. Chuck in a sunset or two… always makes me mellow.

Speeding home, in the days when you could go somewhere, we were racing the sunset. It won! A blaze of glory…

Wishing my very beautiful daughter a happy 50th birthday! Sending hugs, darlin…
