Water : river rafting the Dunajec

Finally I reach the river rafting post, one of the highlights of my recent visit to Poland.  I think it fits quite well with Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge : Water.  It’s a subject that I love, though you might have to excuse the odd mountain creeping into the background.

The rafts have one older oarsman in the front, poleing skilfully and doing the commentary (po Polsku, of course!) while a younger model provides strength and endurance at the back.  We are very lucky with the day and the water is serene and calm.

I hope you enjoyed my watery journey.  It took about 2 hours through the Dunajec Gorge, and ended up back at Szczawnica, where I was staying.  If you ever have the opportunity to go there, don’t hesitate.

But first you need to visit Cee, and have a little more fun with water.

Reflections of Autumn

Yes, that's my shadow on the stone pillar. Careless me!

Yes, that’s my shadow on the stone pillar. Careless me!

This time of year always has me in reflective mood.  No matter how bright the sunshine, I always know that Winter is waiting, just around the corner.  But we have had the occasional sparkling day in this last week or so, and I have been determined to make the most of them.  Come stroll with me in my Durham gallery of sunshine and shadows.

And another Durham day is done.

And another Durham day has flown away.

Cee has given me the perfect opportunity this week to share a few Reflections and Shadows.  Please click on the link to see some wonderful photographs.

I’m hoping your week will have more sunshine than shadow.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Locks, knockers and handles

I've rarely seen a more extravagant door knocker

I’ve rarely seen a more elaborate door knocker, if a bit chipped!

I’m very often admiring of the door knockers and handles in the Algarve, and when I saw the subject of Cee’s photo challenge this week- well, you just knew I’d want to share them, didn’t you?  They’re so elegant.

Thanks, Cee, for giving me another excuse to revisit a wonderful holiday.  That’s it!  No more. (well, not till the next time, anyway)

Off now to check out some more entries to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge.  Click the link and come with me.

Cee’s fun foto challenge : wood

When it comes to the elements, I’m definitely drawn to water the most, but I’m also quite a tactile person.  I can never resist stroking a gleaming wood carving, in a park, or museum.  Tree bark often attracts my finger tips, especially the coppery hue of the Tibetan cherry. Cee’s fun foto challenge this week has me looking at photos related to Wood.  It surprised me to see just how many uses we have for it.

Click on any of the photos to start the gallery rolling, then head over to Cee’s page to see the many different interpretations of the challenge.

Cee’s fun foto challenge : water

Do I need a logo?  I’m not sure.  I’ve never taken part in Cee’s fun foto challenge before.  But I do know that I love water, and that’s this week’s subject.  So I’m going to shower you with a few of my damper moments.

Ooh, look Mum!

I probably should stop now.  My eyes are tired, and maybe yours are too.  But I’m not good at doing things by halves, so maybe just a couple of my lovely Portugal to finish with.
