Six word Saturday

Coffee, cake, his/hers- your choice?

I’ve spent a lot of time, just lately, up on the roof terrace.  Sue prompted me to share a cup of coffee and a book.  Debbie followed suit, with her usual flair.  And in our house, well, a little cake seldom comes amiss…  Why not join the party on Six Word Saturday!

  1. While contemplating what to have with my tea (thanks so much for the offer), I’ll chime in on that last thread. In high school and college, I went to Jan instead of Janet, then later went back. But my husband and his sisters still call me “Jan”. Ahh, well. It’s like that old saying, “You can call me anything you like but don’t call me later for dinner.” 🙂

    1. Oh, I can compete. I was a Janice till my teens, then I discovered Johanna on my birth certificate and much preferred it. Then I discovered I was intended to be Joasia (or Joanna) named for my Polish aunt, but Mum wouldn’t agree. 🙂 🙂

  2. Oh, I loved the book The Piano Teacher. I remember reading it while I was in Korea, and wanting to go to Hong Kong, which I eventually did! Happy memories. Enjoy your weekend. It is finally sunny here today, but just above freezing, just 38 degrees F. 🙂

    1. I have a terrible memory for books, Cathy. I only know that if I kept it I must have enjoyed it 🤣. Had a walk on the beach this morning. Heavy shower this afternoon so I won’t have to water the plants 😊☔⛈️💕

      1. I can easily remember books I loved, but if they were lackluster, I easily forget them. A shower is a great thing to keep you from having to water plants! Glad you enjoyed your walk on the beach. 🙂

  3. Oh my, that chocolate one looks delicious! I made the mistake of making a big chocolate cake last weekend…there are only two of us in our house! I’ve managed to polish most of it off though 🙂 Oh well! I like the look of cover of the book called The Piano Teacher, is it good?

      1. The back is fine thanks Jo – the strong painkillers certainly did their job. I’ve just got back from another long local walk with Poppie, with this continuing good weather I’ve got so many walks to post I’ll be meeting myself coming back 🙂

  4. Drooling over the pastel de nata and longing for one. I’m on my regular bid to lose 14 lbs (been doing this since I was 16 I think, but now with lock down and lack of exercise (no, I can’t do online exercises) plus the fact that I wasn’t doing much before the virus hit due to my dodgy hip and knee I have a cake-free house but keep a few biscuits like Dark Chocolare Leibnitz! Maybe I should photograph them – out of the sun which is blazing today! Sainsbury’s are currently making and selling pastel de nata in their major stores which are more than acceptable. My Portuguese hairdresser reckons they are pretty good. You’ll notice my site name has changed. Still having a problem with WP but it will be solved soon, I hope.

    1. Have finally had a sensible reply from WP and they are “reinstating my site with the privileges paid for”. No apology, they just said it was a mistake. BUT, I’ve gone into it but the new site I started has taken over and I’m still in a muddle. Still, we are getting there.

      1. It’s a tempting prospect, Susan 🤣🤣. For me it doesn’t work for t’ai chi. I get stressed trying to follow the moves on my phone and I can’t load it to the laptop. The whole point of t’ai chi is to destress. Chatting is different. I use WhatsApp with my daughter and Skype with my son. 🤗💕

      2. Yes, you are in trouble, Jo. Margaret is not a gobby lady, but an articulate, friendly one.,..where’s yer manners, girl?

    1. What a wise woman, Margaret! 🙂 🙂 Do you prefer your full name, or a shortened version? It’s something people can be particular about. Yes, it’s a pastel de nata. Pasteis is the plural and I would never be so greedy… 🙂 🙂

      1. Would you not Jo? Really? ;). Yup, I’ve been Margaret since I left school. It’s a name that dates me to a particular era, unlike yours. I only know one Margaret under 60!

      2. Absolutely never! People have quite the wrong idea about me 🤣🤣. It’s just that I’m often tempted to shorten it to Marg but I wasn’t sure you’d like that 🤔💕

      3. That seems very Liverpudlian – my in-laws call me that and I’m not keen. I was Maggie at school, but I’ve gone off that too. Just treat me with proper respect and I’ll be fine 😉
