Last day of Carnival 2020 and Moncarapacho was making the most of it. My Dad loved a party! It would have been his birthday today and I’m smiling as I think of him, tapping his stick and nodding his head to the music.

Yes, the Spanish and Portuguese also like a good fiesta and work hard on all the floats and masques.

Amazing the effort that goes into them, hon! It felt like the entire village took part or was there 🙂 🙂

Oh my goodness … those costumes are something else! I admire the creativity and construction, but there is something a tiny bit unsettling about them, too. They are just so … MUCH!

I am loving the photos and seeing that other places besides Venice and New Orleans celebrate Carnival.

It’s hard to think that he died back in 2016, Cathy. Seems so long ago but I have some amazing memories to look back on. Strange that his birthday coincided with Carnival this year. We went to this more local one and to the grand event at Loule. A peaceful day or two now 🤗💕

We did! With better planning we could have gone further afield, but you know Mike’s a home body 🤗💕

Wow what a great party Jo. Weather looks fine and everyone looks like they’re having a ball. Wonderful costumes too. Lots of cake and wine consumed?

Fantastic atmosphere, Jonno. Me and Michael had gone walking in the morning and had a very nice lunch before arriving at the Carnival so we didn’t indulge but it was all available 😍
