Six word Saturday

Riding the North Sea in style!

Click on the gallery to read the story of our adventure on the high seas.  A very special person had a significant birthday and we celebrated in style.  Our Tall Ship, ‘Wylde Swan’ from the Netherlands, was a beauty and the crew worked hard to give us a wonderful experience.  Even the weather cooperated, after a very grey start.  All was smooth sailing.

Is anybody counting?  Debbie keeps tally over at Six Word Saturday.  Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. A happy birthday to Mick, belatedly, from me, too. When I read this post, I was surprised, really surprised, about the coincidence: we did the same for my birthday this year, sailing out of Galveston on the “When and If”, a 65-foot vintage schooner, during the Tall Ships’ Parade off Galveston island [https://wp.me/p4uPk8-1gE].
Oh, how I now wish I could have been aboard the “Wylde Swan” with you! I love sailing, and I love tall ships.
I just saw that there was a Polish vessel, too, the “General Zaruski” [https://www.tallshipssunderland.com/node/217]. And also one we saw in Galveston, the Dutch “Oosterschelde”. That, btw, was a ship to be seen below decks: absolutely fantastic woodwork. [https://wp.me/p4uPk8-1jv]. On the Oosterschelde I was really tempted for a whil, to book a berth. They still had some available for the 4-day trip from Galveston to Pensacola/Florida. Well, finally I didn’t. One reason was that Ididn’t have the appropriate clothing with me for 4 days on biard a sailing-ship[. But it would have been nice.
Thanks, Jo, for this post, and have a wonderful weekend,
    Pit

    1. So nice to share an experience like that, Pit. The crew were great and I’ll be looking at more of the ships in my walk on Monday. Thanks for the good wishes xx

  2. Glorious photos, Jo. A belated happy birthday! The ‘Wylde Swan’ looks like a beautiful ship, wow. I guess it’s ancient Dutch; nowadays we would say ‘Wilde Zwaan’. 😀

  3. First of all, happy belated birthday to Mick! That’s a great picture of him. 🙂 This looks like a wonderful way to spend a birthday. I’d love to be out on a big sailing ship like this. I love all the knots and ropes. Great fun! 🙂

    1. I’m trying to keep my six worders short and this seemed a good way to do it. What with tennis and outings there wasn’t much time to write either. My Monday walk will tell the rest of the story. Thanks darlin xx

  5. I avoid the sea where possible (apart from sitting on a deck chair looking at it), but have to admit your photographs make it enticing.

  6. That looks wonderful, but only in theory. I would have been obliged to hang over the side, being sick every time the smallest wave came along. Glad it wasn’t the same for you!

  7. Oh, and a shame the Rafa game was delayed…..I shan’t see the finishing of it, as I’m out with friends on a ride on an old train….
