Bedazzled by butterflies in Vila Real
Strolling one Sunday through the riverside market in Vila Real de S. Antonio, I was so distracted by butterflies I almost forgot to make a purchase.
You never know what you’re going to find, do you? I had a wonderful time in the Algarve, but it’s good to be back with Debbie and six words. She’s paddling this week. Go and see!
Wishing you all a great weekend.

They are so pretty and cheerful Jo -your photos are wonderful!

Bedazzled by your post…these are wonderful! 😀😀 I love butterflies and what a treat to see giant replica ones…sitting still and not prone to flying away. I’m not surprised you nearly forgot your original task. Was it a temporary exhibition? For any special reason? What are those beautiful red flowers? I’m thinking some kind of confectionery..? Wishing you a lovey Sunday…bet it’s even colder up North! 😀❤️

I never did discover why they were there, Annika. Might just be a generalised attempt to pretty up the riverfront. The confectionery were some kind of ‘healthy’ sugar candy 🙂 It’s bright and cold, yes- might make it to 6C later! There’s a Christmas festival over at the Headland so I expect we’ll muffle up and go. Hope you’re having a good weekend too.

Ahh butterflies match my fluttery mind so I love these. I really like Vila real, went twice, once on my own for the morning, then back again with Lindy for the ferry across to Ayemonte.

It’s a real kind of place, isn’t it, Gilly? I like it too, but we have some Spanish friends who have a terrible 3rd floor flat, just behind the riverfront. Cold/damp/too hot at all the wrong times and the lift hardly ever works (they’re mid-70s and not very mobile). I haven’t caught up with them for ages because they moved to Estepona, but they couldn’t sell the flat. Nice butterflies, though 🙂

Oh dear, what a pity, it’s no fun this getting old lark is it? Nice plans today? I have the usual Sunday chores to do, but chilled 🙂

Perishing here- 4C! But sunny, so far 🙂 🙂 The Headland Christmas festival is on so we might muffle up warm and go for a look. Fireworks later, if I can persuade Mick to stay that long. Hugs, sweetheart!

Nice bright skies here too, Rosemay, though I don’t think the temperature’s more than 4C yet! Not venturing out to check for a while. 🙂 🙂

Brrr sounds far too cold for me Jo – I would be staying indoors too! Hope it warmed up a bit for you yesterday!

Hi Jo sorry for delay have had a couple of days off the computer and now Monsieur has decided to do some sort of scan on my desktop computer, which has taken all day so far and it’s still going so having to make do with my iPad, which don’t find so user friendly! Yes am on Instagram – you should be able to see it on sidebar of my blog. If not am on as Lechicenrose so hope you can find me 😃

I’m curious as to why they were there. But you can never have too many butterflies 🙂

So was I, Jude, but too lazy to find out. 🙂 🙂 Possibly just the local council prettying up the riverside walk/new marketing strategy. Vila Real is a place with a lot of potential but it’s a bit of a hodge podge.

The poor trees up here are starting to look a bit bare, so I thought ‘inject a bit of colour’, Debs. Sadly, not the warmth 🙂 🙂 Thanks, darlin!

Lovely! I needed a bit of blue sky and bright sunshine to battle the grey skies and endless rain here.

Sorry about the rain. 😦 We had a couple of days of that but it’s bright blue and frosty here in the north east at the moment. Fine so long as you wrap up warm. 🙂 🙂

I wasn’t sure what to make of them at first, but they’re easier to photograph than the real thing, Ann. 🙂 🙂 Having a good weekend so far?

Definitely easier to photograph. Weekend has started off well, thank you. I tried to photograph some bees in my garden; they are as hard to capture as butterflies. I failed. 😀
