As transient as a reflected image
I hate goodbyes. The weekend in Nottingham with my daughter came and went all too swiftly. Transient, you might say. As she returned to work, I took one last disconsolate stroll by the canal.
Share your six words this Saturday? Debbie will be pleased to see you. Or you might want to try the Weekly Photo Challenge. There’s still time.

Great shots & good choice for this week’s topic!

Gorgeous images. Somehow you’ve captured a feeling of warmth and sunshine which I suspect is often absent in Nottingham ( I should know – I’m even further north, in Yorkshire)

It was during those exceptionally warm days last weekend, Margaret. It’s much fresher up here in the north east. 🙂 🙂 Thanks a lot!

Lovely shots, Jo. Our younger daughter leaves in a few hours after a mere four days here. We had a lot of fun and did many things, but it went by all too quickly.

Thanks, Annika. Maybe in late Autumn. 🙂 🙂 We’ve been down the Moors today, blowing the cobwebs away.

I love reflections! And, what a perfect use of the word “transient”, Jo! Transient is also a good word to describe my husband and I. 🙂

Such a sense of sadness in this post Jo. Chin up girl, she’s only a bus journey away and you’ll be flying off yourself soon! I do understand: I miss being near to my daughter.

I hate that moment, Jude. I know she’s only a few hours away but it still tends to be only twice a year. She may be coming out to Tavira in October/November but she has a big wedding in Slovakia in August. She’s making the bride’s dress and it’s simple but gorgeous. 🙂 🙂

Well I hope they make it out there, it will be nice for you to spend some time with her away from work.

I hadn’t realised you’d done canals too this 6WS, you are though much better than me on the word count 😉

Mick just said you have Aveiro up. 🙂 🙂 I thought of you this morning and wondered if you’d post. Sending hugs, darlin! We’ve been down the Moors all day. Sort of windy/sunny and one of those muddy escapades that we didn’t quite plan.

Thank you 🙂 Things are ok, a few sibling tensions but we are managing and Mum doing well. The funeral is next week and so after that I’m hoping to enjoy some escapades too, albeit not muddy ones!!

I’m glad you had a good weekend with your daughter, Jo, but I’m sure it was sad for it to come to an end.
I’m so sorry I’ve been so derelict about visiting. I have only 4 more weeks of classes, and I have been so busy it’s ridiculous. I do hope to get back to catching up with you more regularly once I leave Japan. 🙂

Nothing to worry about, Cathy. I know you have to make the most of the time you have. I’ve not been to yours for a while either. Busy this weekend but I’ll Find a few minutes. You take care! 🙂 🙂

It’s too bad I have to work so much to be able to do this teach & travel thing, Jo! I’m so done with the work part! I’m counting the days – four weeks and one day!!! Can’t wait till it’s over and I can travel around Japan without being restricted to Tokyo and its weekend crowds. Mike and I are planning our trip to Budapest and Prague for the fall. 🙂

Thanks, Mabel. We only see each other about twice a year, so parting is quite sad. 🙂 🙂 We were down on the Moors today, and helping our son to move home tomorrow.

Her office overlooks the canal on one side and the railway station on the other, Sue. I had half hour till my bus, and it is rather a nice spot, right in the thick of the city but away from it all. 🙂 🙂 Happy Saturday! What you up to? Think I’m going to get blown about on the Moors. Our son is moving next week so we’ve got to go to Leeds and do ‘useful’ things tomorrow.

The good thing about transience is that its disappearance is often as transient as its appearance! Hopefully another Nottingham weekend for you soon.
