Yorkshire just keeps on having fun!
Making the very most of a fine spell of weather, I’ve been out and about lots this week. And look what I found! You may remember that Saltburn-by-the-Sea loves its yarn bombing. They’ve been at it again! Everything from Yorkshire lavender to Geoffrey Boycott.
They’re an endearing bunch of characters. You might even recognise the odd one. Click on the galleries for a closer look.
And you’ll not go short of a bite to eat, or drink. Tea, or something stronger?
Got to feed the workers and keep their strength up. Good old Yorkshire values.
There’s even a little architecture to admire.
Naturally, some people just want to play, and who can blame them?
It all adds up to pride in …
I told you it was fun! Great while it lasted but I think it’s going to be wet this weekend. Never mind. We can still smile.
Hope you have a good one. And don’t forget to pop in on Cate with your six words.

I love these – they are so clever and FABULOUS! I’m so glad you’ve taken us there again this year for the yarn bombing. I am really struggling to choose just one as a favourite but I must mention the sprigs of lavender because they are so delicate.

I agree about the lavender, Elaine. I have so many favourites! I’ll be there again next year, God willing 🙂 🙂 Thanks for your company, and you’ve reminded me that I haven’t yet linked this week’s 6WS. Been at the Tall Ships all day 🙂 🙂

When you told you had captured some lovely lambs, I did not expect these 😀

Brilliant, aren’t they? I could have had a profusion of yarn bombing but it doesn’t seem quite right somehow 🙂 🙂

These are so much fun – it’s really hard to pick a favorite with so many options! I noticed the little computer codes that can be scanned with a smart phone. I wonder what the scanner shows? Have you tried them?

My phone isn’t smart enough, or I’m not! 🙂 🙂 It will either be details of the responsible knitter or the character. Oh dear! Must do better next year 😦

Great fun, aren’t they? 🙂 They must have got drowned today, poor things, but we got the sun back about 3.00. How about you?

I remember your post from this delightful event last year too – love it!! My favourite, if I could choose, is the red sweater with the wool coming straight from the sheep😄. What wonderful imaginations and humour go into this event – something I’d go out of my way to visit.

I love that one too! Is all ok with you? I noticed you haven’t posted lately? 🙂

what wonderful art / the lamb with the price of yarn attached to the lamb in the shirt was my favorite – but all were unique and well done – the donut? a tea pot??? so much to soften the steel and near the beautiful scenery – ahhh- great photos of them- I wonder if the knitters out there are getting ideas?

You would think so, wouldn’t you, Yvette? I could be half tempted myself. 🙂 You just managed to catch me mid canalside walk for tomorrow and escaping into the garden for a coffee while the sun’s about. Happy Sunday! 🙂

Wow! I should have looked before I sent that. I hope you can decipher what I was trying to say. If not, it is supposed to say, “You know this is always one of my favorite posts. I hope you thought of me when taking these photos.”

Oh these are such fun and so very clever. Hard to choose a favourite but having looked through them all at least twice I have to pick the sheep and his own woolly jumper. Reminds me of a red cardigan my mother knitted me when I was about 5yrs old. On one side was a black dog and the other side a black and white cat with its hackles raised. I loved that cardie! I am so glad you visit Saltburn every year 🙂

Several times a year, Jude, and I have similar memories of cardies. Mam used to do cats with wonderful whiskers. 🙂 That red one’s my favourite too.

These are marvellous and so creative. Do they stay outside in all weathers, and is there someone to guard them from being stolen? (I’m afraid this wouldn’t work in SA. They’d be gone before you could say “Yarn Bomb.”) I absolutely adore the dog with the ball and the black sheep with the beer. The brass band reminds me of ‘The Full Monty’. I think I need to watch that movie again. 😀

Good idea! Mick’s got Last of the Summer Wine on again! Drives me doo-lally-tap 🙂 🙂 They must have got well soaked this weekend, Ad, but they just dry out again. Stolen??? This is Yorkshire, woman! 🙂

Oh yes, right……..Yorkshire. 😀 I don’t think I’ve seen ‘The Last of the Summer Wine’. Would I like it, do you think?

Butting in here, I’d say stick with the Full Monty or even Brassed Off, but forget about LOTSW!!!!

Oh Jo these are delightful! I’ve not seen anything like them. The only yarn bombing I’ve seen is more abstract, like a tree wrapped in colourful crocheted circles.

Nightmare, Sue! Guess where I found you? 😦 Is this a WP conspiracy do you think? 🙂 I saw over at Andrew’s that you were having problems. I mean- how can you know if you appear in the Reader or not? I don’t rely on the Reader too much but it’s not a happy thought.

Well Andrew has been helping me and letting me know if I don’t show up. Also I can tell by the number of likes as only WordPress followers can leave them. The folks at WP are working on the issue so hopefully all will soon be stuck with me again. 🙂
