Did you watch the opening ceremony?

If so you were one of three billion, watching around the world. I had no intention that this be my Six word Saturday this week, but I was drawn into these magical creations of the human mind. Looking down on beautiful Rio from that tiny plane, I couldn’t help but smile. If only we could keep that joy, and work together for a better world.
Wishing you all a peaceful and happy week. Click on the YouTube link that comes up to watch the highlights.

A bit. But I wasn’t very impressed. Too tired perhaps to take it in. I’m sure I’ll end up watching some of it, but to be honest the Olympics doesn’t do a lot for me.

Guess which bit I plan to watch? 🙂 🙂

It all seems very disjointed though. Or maybe not if you have Sky.

I haven’t got a clue what’s on when. I just like the pretty pictures of Rio 🙂 🙂 My 6 words were going to be much more to your taste but I got sidetracked. On hold for next week 🙂 🙂

I think it offers such a nice distraction to all the sorrow in the world and brings people together from all over. Wonderful.

This games has been fraught so far, and there are demonstrations on the streets from those who’d like a better life and a little more consideration in Brazil. But the display they put on was magnificent. 🙂

Reading your description, I wish I had seen it. The YouTube link does not “work in my country”, it says, so we’ll try to watch the highlights later. You certainly inspired me to take a peek!

You should be able to Google the full ceremony by now, Liesbet? I admit to not watching the whole thing but the opening scenes were brilliant. 🙂

I managed to catch most of the procession although I tuned in just after the Canadian team entered the stadium! Such controversy surrounding theses games. I hope that they go well & that the athletes participating have a wonderful experience 💛

It must have been hard being an athlete with all that’s gone on, Lynn. I have no athletic ability whatsoever (walking aside 🙂 ) so I’m full of admiration.

Yes, I agree Jo. It must have been a difficult decision for those that decided to not attend. So much hard work & dedication.

Yes we watched the whole thing live – helps that we’re in a close time zone and have a public broadcaster. There were some inspirational parts for sure.
I’ll second a wish for peace anytime Jo😊

Yes! We watched it, but I didn’t make it to the very end – I waited to see the Great Britain team come in then went to bed. I thought there was a great carnival atmosphere throughout.

I didn’t either, Elaine. I’d been at a Ladies night so the eyes were heavy 🙂 🙂

I didn’t watch it as I was asleep! Despite all the media surrounding the Olympics this time round, I thought this was great opening. There is something about sport that brings athletes and us together…the athletes pushing themselves to their full potential and us cheering them on. Very heartening all round 🙂

Yes, even the most cynical of us end up cheering the team on 🙂 There were some really clever and beautifully choreographed scenes.

Amen to your wish, and I may even watch it!! Have a lovely weekend, and a hug or two. Mine began with a predawn downpour and the builders started work at – wait for it – 4.30 am. A lazy weekend here: maybe an early walk tomorrow. An added complication – front door scanner thingy not working, so we can only go out one at a time!
