The devil is in the detail
Mistress of the beach
Drifting, swirling on the tide.
Fronds that tease tiny fish
Then lie stranded on the shore-
A frothy, green petticoat.
Jen’s photo in the Weekly Photo Challenge this week is a real beauty. Â I can’t hope to compete, but I did want to share with you a few of the details of my recent trip to the Algarve. Â As half expected, it was unbelievably hot, and much of the time was spent with my toes in the water.
A weekend at home in the UK will be an entirely different prospect. Â Perhaps I shall relish the cool. Â Whatever your weekend brings, I hope it’s a good one. Â Join me on Monday and we’ll find somewhere to walk. Â But first, pop in on Cate with six words?

Great pics and what a cute little boy 🙂 Loved the “Frothy green petticoats”

I’m glad you got your toes wet and met your muse in very good form, both photographically and verbally. And thank you for an ocean fix. I’m still smarting from not seeing the Baltic. Did you talk Polish at lunch????

My friend Ann has very little contact with her Polish family so has even less need to speak the language than me. 😦 As I remember it, she was very much better at Polish lessons when we both went, all those years ago. 🙂 Thanks, sweetheart!

Back in the UK, just, Cathy 🙂 🙂 It was a short break for Mick’s birthday and to give James a bit of a treat. Would you believe I got heatstroke? That water was so nice though. 🙂

Welcome back to the UK, Jo. Just in time for Brexit (or a little after it)! 🙂 Happy belated birthday to Mick, and I’m glad you had a special time with James. I can’t believe you got heatstroke! What happened? You didn’t faint or feel too ill, I hope. I bet the water did cool you down a bit. How long before you go back to Portugal? 🙂 Have a happy weekend settling back in. xxx

I’m not good at eating when it’s hot, Cathy. We were doing the moonlit terrace on the eve of Mick’s birthday. When my sea bass arrived, sizzling in garlic and bacon, I felt queasy and then the good old world started to swim. Highly embarrassing, but the waiters were great. Plied me with sugared water (ugh!) and ice, and the boys obliged by eating my food and polishing off my wine. 😦

I can understand that perfectly, Jo. In summer here, it’s just too hot to eat greasy or heavy things. I’m so sorry you got dizzy and sick. At least the waiters and Mick and James took care of you; both by plying you with sugar water and ice and by eating your food and downing your wine! Take good care of yourself. Mike just came back from a bikeride in 91 degree heat (F) (32C) and his heart was pounding at a dangerous rate according to his heart rate monitor. I think you have to be really careful what you do in the heat. Sending hugs your way! xxx

Lovely photos all round, Jo. The image of the green seaweed and shell is marvellous, great close up. The seaweed looks unbelievable bright, though. Maybe it’s one of a kind to that beach 🙂 Hope you had a great time in Algarve aside from the head. I am sure you put up with it very well 🙂
