Spring balls

Mimosa vibrates

With colour, to lift the gloom.

Small beacons of bright.

For years I’ve admired these small balls of Spring fuzz in the Algarve, not knowing what they were.  I guess the knowledge is worth a celebratory haiku.  Gilly is feeling rather sad this week, so I hope this might cheer her up.

I don’t know how much laptop time I’ll have this weekend, as I’m eagerly anticipating the arrival of my daughter.  I’ll be around if I can, but in case I miss you, I wish you all a peaceful and happy Easter.

  1. Gorgeous Spring balls and I love the haiku, Jo. Have fun with your daughter and a very happy Easter to you all. I remember a wonderful Spring Ball at Birmingham University not long after hubby and I met. What a night we all had, and I didn’t get back to my res. until well after daybreak. Those were the days. 🙂

    1. Well, I have a lovely Spring morning awakening behind me, Ad. 🙂 You’ve still got the memories, and a lovely husband to boot! (unfortunate choice of words- maybe better not to 🙂 ) Happy Easter to you both!

  3. It looks like golden wattle, our national floral emblem. In the words of the immortal Monty Python:

    This here’s the wattle,
    the emblem of our land.
You can stick it in a bottle,
you can hold it in your hand.

Have a lovely Easter, Jo. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for enlightening me, Carol! A lightbulb exploded in my head when I read this, because I’ve seen it on Meg’s posts many a time and not made the connection. Our world just got smaller again. 🙂 Happy Easter!

  4. Do you like the smell of mimosa? Of course you do. So do I 🙂 Where I grew up they would show up as early as February, and sometimes even in January for my birthday. I love them. This is an impressive capture of them.

Have a great weekend, Jo. My daughter arrives later today – but she’ll be revising all weekend. But I really should do some spring cleaning. We’ll see!

      1. I did that in a rush as I went out the door this morning. Now I’m back to say Happy Easter, have a lovely time with Lisa and thanks for linking to me. Is Lisa visiting you in the warm or are you at home? The mimosa is confusing me (-:
