Happy New Year!
Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku
I seem to have neglected my Polish friends lately. I subscribe to a Polish Language blog, courtesy of my lovely Australian friend, Meg (who has twin half-Polish grandchildren). I hope they won’t mind if I share with you a snippet from yesterday’s post.
Niech Nowy Rok zabłyśnie dla Was tęczy kolorami
I rozsypie się nad głowami szczęście i uśmiechów moc
I niech zostanie na 12 miesięcy z Wami
Nie tylko w tę Sylwestrową noc.
May the New Year shine for you in rainbow colors
And may happiness and the power of smiles scatter over your heads
And let it stay for 12 months with you
Not only on New Year’s Eve.
Such an international world we now live in! I’ll leave you with a few fireworks from Sydney- arguably the best display in the world. I’m looking forward to seeing the London spectacular tonight.
“From our house to yours…” how lovely is that? I love seeing the fireworks, BUT (and maybe it is an age thing) I’d really love it more if one city in the world would say, no, this year the money we would spend on fireworks will go to feeding hungry children and building wells for clean water. It upsets me to think of all the money just set on fire, when we still have children dying because they don’t have the bare necessities in life. I don’t suppose I can change the world, but I hope that everyone can be a little less selfish in the year to come and realise that we are all in it together (as those communities in the flooded homes have done). Rant over!
I wish you all the best for the coming year and thank you for being such a good friend. Maybe this is the year to finally meet? And do one of those walks together!
Jude xx

Rant on! I’m on your side 🙂 🙂 Yes, we’ll have to try and make it happen this year. Gilly’s up for it 🙂 When you’ve finished designing/organising your new garden of course 🙂 You never did tell me how much garden you will have and how much work it needs.
Happy 2016, Jude 🙂

Small garden and fairly mature in a wild sort of way. I shall leave it be the first year to see what is growing, but I fancy some Australian/South African/New Zealand planting eventually. So… let’s get planning 🙂

Monday week because this Monday is a garden for Jude 🙂 Yesterday was a crazy dawn! Huge rolling grey clouds with flashes of angry red through them. No way I could have got the shot 🙂 Have a good slumber! It’ll be New Year all day tomorrow. 🙂

And a very Happy New Year to you Jo, very much hope to meet up with you and Michael again in 2016. Our fireworks tonight are going to be opposite the apartment, and we might even see Faro’s over the rooftops!

I won’t be watching any real fireworks tonight. Probably be in bed before 9 PM. So thanks for the video.
A nice new year’s poem. Meaningful no matter what language we speak. Happy New Year to you. 🙂

Lovely poem, such heart warming words. But I am confused about the Sydney fireworks???? It is 9-39pm here and the fireworks have not gone off yet!!! was that a 2015 youtube? They certainly are the best in the world. Best wishes to you Jo and hope 2016 brings you lots of joy

I aim to confuse, Pauline 🙂 I can never remember the exact time differences. I Googled youTube this morning and picked this vid. It’s footage from last year, of course. A more recent one was the Daily Star article but it was full of adverts 🙂 Another blessed and happy year to you both!

Ahhh that explains it…. I’m sure this years were just as spectacular. (we do not have TV so didn’t see them and I was in bed fast asleep at midnight)

That is such a beautiful New Year’s wish Jo and I love those little lamps. Adorable! 😀
The fireworks display is beautiful. A good organized and safe display of fireworks is something well worth watching, especially when it’s far away from wildlife and pets. Still not my favourite though. I’d rather give that money to animal shelters.
Be safe and well darling and wishing you just the best for 2016. 😀 ♥

What a beautiful message from your Polish song – ‘May the New Year shine for you in rainbow colors / And may happiness and the power of smiles scatter over your heads’. I wish Jo likewise, a scattering of joy and peace for today and all days of the New Year. Warmest wishes to you and yours.
