Licking and licking,
With a greedy salted tongue.
Restrained by the tide
I’m not sure quite where this wistful post came from. It started life as a tribute to Lazy Poet’s Thursday Haiku and somehow morphed. Just me, rambling on Algarve beaches. But this week, Gilly has the most beautiful Tanka. Do go and see.

Here in Ontario, Canada, we awoke to a very crisp, fall morning. Sifting through your beautiful photos brought a wee bit of warmth into my morning. Cheers!

It’s Autumn here in north east England too, Lynn. I like to escape into a memory now and then 🙂 But the warm colours are a consolation, aren’t they?

They sure are Jo! Honestly, I love the change of seasons & would miss them immensely if I lived in a place where it was summer all year round.

On a nice calm sea like that one I don’t suppose it’s too bad. I haven’t tried, though 🙂

Very welcome warmth on the first crisp morning I needed a sweater and coat!

It’s actually still warm here in England during the daytime, though the extremities are nippy. 🙂 Making the most of it because it can’t last.

Was that you in the first shot, Jo? I could see you doing that. 🙂 Great photos!

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!!! A lovely essay of life and activity on the sea and sand, wistful and whimsical. The haiku captures the atmosphere. Gilly will be proud of you.

Meg is into the haiku too and cleverly combined with her photos. Have you seen her latest post?

No, I owe her a visit, Pauline. Some people need more time for a visit so I was saving Meg for when I’m not rushed. It’s wonderfully foggy this morning and the other half is off out on a job so I’ll be doing some catch up. 🙂

The beaches were busier than I’m used to because we were there in August, Sonel, but you could still find peace and quiet if you wandered a bit further. I enjoyed ‘observing life’ 🙂 🙂

I know what you mean and now and then it’s fun sitting at a quiet spot where you can ‘observe’ people. I like to do that sometimes, but without them seeing me. 😀

It’s always good to welcome you here, Annalisa. 🙂 Autumn is here in England but it has stayed warm in the daytime. Cool on a morning and at night, but I have my memories to keep me warm. 🙂

“greedy salted tongue” Such a creative phrase, and I bet that’s what we taste when we are spending time swimming or surfing in the ocean’s water. Lovely set of summerish photos – just in time for the warm spring that’s heading my way here in Australia 😀 I love the first shot the best. Good timing on that one catching the surfer riding the waves 🙂

Many thanks, Mabel 🙂 We were often at the beach because it was quite hot in the Algarve. While my husband lazed I wandered off with the camera. So everyone was happy 🙂

A fresh and lively post Jo and I love your Haiku – so very true 🙂
Great admiration for the board paddlers ,they always look so precarious but somehow they just keep gliding on across the sea surface ….
Enjoy your walk Jo … fog here … it may lift 🙂

Hi Poppy! 🙂 Have you posted yet? I did check recently…
We were lost in fog for about 3 days at the beginning of the week but that nice Mother Nature person was on our side again today and it was glorious. 🙂
Always happy with my Algarve memories.

I have one I like better, Ann, but it’s a bit ‘squint’ 🙂 I zoomed in on it and it’s a lovely shot. If I get around to processing I might try to straighten it but I’m very lazy at that. 🙂 And thank you 🙂
