A Bench challenge and an orchid
A gentle day, on the north east coast of England. My friends and I amble along, in search of a bench where we can sit for a while, admiring the view.
It’s not a perfect day, but pleasant, in a very English way. The kind of day when it’s good to be on a cliff top bench, gazing out to sea. After a while we ease ourselves up and carry on.
At this time of year small orchids radiate out from the grass. Careful not to tread on them, I kneel down for a closer look. Pretty, aren’t they?
When our walk is done I carry on down to the small marina at Seaham, looking for a sheltered spot where I can read. There must be a bench or two?
Careful not to upset Judge Jude by breaking any rules, I’ve been quite subtle with my post processing of Benches. But I just had to give Lunapic one more whirl. What do you think? All of the images except for the last one were done in Ulead Photo Express, in quite an old version.
It’s Saturday again so it must be time to find your six words. Pop along and share them with Cate at Show My Face. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday for a walk.

Nice to know you have orchids so far north Jo, the are beauts. A lovely walk, nice benches to pause with your friends and I love the understated poems. Perfect 10 🙂

There are some along the coast most years, Gilly, but there seem to be heaps this year. Wouldn’t Meg love them? Thank you! 🙂

I like your benches, Jo. Last week (thank you for your nice comment then) I had a bench that I’d like to enter here.
Proprietary (all mine, only I do the sharing), of course:

We are in the process of moving and of recovering from our three week outing. I won’t be posting much until perhaps August. A few times I can’t resist the urge.

Hello, Jim! 🙂 It’s always nice when you can pop by but I know how busy your life can be. Stay well- that’s the main thing 🙂 And thanks!

I love those poems! And everything else of course, but the poems struck me in particular.

They are a nice idea, Anabel. There are quite a lot of them along the cliff top at that point and it does add a bit of extra interest. 🙂

Good to read there is a bench on the other side of the stone wall. All the pics are amazing.

Thank you! 🙂 No shortage of benches along that stretch of coast.

I like the spotlit one – it seems to be calling to me and saying ‘Come and sit here, rest and enjoy the view’.

A couple of the walkers hovered right there, Elaine, but were persuaded to walk another 50 metres 🙂

Love the orchids, Jo. Hoping for a walk and a bench tomorrow in Canterbury. Going to give my little point and shoot a go – with my right hand!

Good for you, Carol. No tripping over wobbly cobblestones! I was in Canterbury just briefly about 4 years ago but didn’t have time for a proper walk. It’s all down to you 🙂

Your English coastline view is the tops Jo ! A feathery leg tickling grass path leads us round to the benches but oh … we shan’t stop because LOOK …as the layered clouds disappear over the horizon … a beach is waiting. just for us .until the tide turns …
Ah I’m all off in daydream mode … and I’ve SO much to do today 🙂
Have a great day Jo x

Sorry to intrude on your Saturday, Poppy 🙂 It’s one of our rather rugged beaches. I’ve never actually been down there on that bit but I love the cliff top views. Many thanks for your lovely company. 🙂

Where to start?
First image I adore, because of the view – what a view! And I like the canvas effect, makes it look like a painting. LOVE ❤ your orchids!! Very jealous… and thank you for the Lunapic version – you know what? I actually like this one – whirl away Jo – you have a great eye for an image 🙂

Happy to have your approval 🙂 As I said to Poppy, some of the beaches aren’t great at close quarters , but the cliff top views can rival any. I was saving this for a Monday walk because the disused quarry’s quite interesting too, but the benches were just too much of a temptation. And, of course, there was your orchid. 🙂 Thanks, Jude!
