Just a last remnant of Christmas!
On New Year’s Eve I paid a visit to St. Mary’s Church in Whitby. High on the cliff top, the chilly graveyard looks out to sea but, at this time of year, inside the church is bathed in a warm glow.
It’s the light of numerous Christmas trees, contributed by the community, and a huge boost to the church funds. If you’re lucky you might even catch a carol service.
A last dusting of WordPress snow sets them off rather nicely. I saw a little of the real thing on the road across the Moors- but not much! I guess you know now where my Monday walk will be taking us next week? Winter woollies will be required.
Until then, enjoy your weekend, and don’t forget to call in on Cate at Show My Face. You wouldn’t want her to play Six Word Saturday all alone, would you?
Beautiful set of photos! 🙂 Happy New Year! Kamila
Thank you so much for your company today, Kamila! I appreciate it and hope you too have a great year ahead. 🙂
Just lovely this post…adore the reindeer and the hedgehogs. And of course the owls 🙂 But now it’s all over and the snow has gone! Oh..well, we enjoyed Christmas while it lasted didn’t we! Here’s a great year ahead…may it be a wonderful one for you my friend 🙂
Thanks, Sherri 🙂 Good to have you around again 🙂 I’ve been out cleaning windows to let some of that wintry sun shine in.
I want that owl!!!
Maybe I could knit one 🙂 🙂
If you do, send it over here!
I’ll make two! I’d better do mine first for practise.
😀 fair enough!
When do I need to have ‘Restoration’ to you, Paula? I plan on writing it this week but you know how life gets in the way 🙂
I think you have plenty of time. Please see scheduled challenges page. The date is there. xx
It says 26th February 🙂
Sure! I just wasn’t sure how far in advance you needed it, especially since you’ll be away before then (yippee! 🙂 ) and so will I. Thanks, Paula.
I remember this from last year – such pretty decorations. Happy New Year Jo x
Hiya Suze! Happy 2015 to you 🙂 Are you still in exciting places? I’ll pop over and have a look shortly.
The Christmas decorations are always so beautiful to look at. Great shots Jo. Looks like you had lots of fun taking these. I love the little owl. 😀 ♥
Hi Sonel 🙂 🙂 Lovely to see you again! I hope you had a good Christmas? Peaceful and surrounded by nature- just the way you like it. And not too many health issues! I hope 2015 is kind to you.
Always good to see you and your lovely posts Jo. We had a peaceful time for sure and of course … always surrounded by nature and yes, just the way I like it, except for the mozzies and flies. Those you can take. 😆
No, not really sweetness. Thanks for asking. The fibro is on and off..as usual, but I am not complaining. There are people who are worse off than me and why make things worse than it is? So, no .. I have no complaints whatsoever. It doesn’t mean my life is perfect but I do my best to make it so. 😆
Wishing you a wonderful 2015 as well hon. 😀 ♥
I love these remanents 😛
Wishing all the best in 2015, Jo! Aquileana 🙂
Thank you so much, Aquileana 🙂 Hope the year is kind to you too!
Stunning I cannot believe the Holidays are all over with 😦
Yup- been and gone! Though my tree’s still beside me for the moment 🙂
What a beautiful place, Jo. I love the reindeer in front of the Christmas tree. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos. I’ll be digging out the winter woolies for Monday! xo
You’re welcome, Jill, but bring a hat! 🙂 🙂 You’ll need it!
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is over and that next Tuesday is the ‘official’ day for taking down Christmas decorations. Lovely images. 😉
Mine are coming down on Monday. Before or after my walk 🙂 🙂 I hate coming back to the house when they’ve just been taken down though.
A dusting of snow sounds like just the right amount Jo. Here there was a big dump last night so we have been shoveling away. A good winter addition to the gym work outs.
The photos are lovely and I specially like what looks like a little hedgehog or mouse?
Yes, I like the hedgehog or mouse too, Sue. I don’t expect it will take offence either way 🙂 I left the snow behind on the Moors. Best place for it, really 🙂 🙂
Ours seems determined to remain. No Moors for it to be left in. 🙂
I’m looking for the walk. I don’t think I’ve been there since I was a child.
You can have the summer version, Deb 🙂 It’ll probably be a link within Mondays. https://restlessjo.wordpress.com/2014/07/21/jos-monday-walk-whitby-cliff-tops/
How lovely! Thank you for a last little glimpse of Christmas before it’s packed away for the year.
Yes- so nearly gone for another year 🙂 I quite like looking back.
