Six word Saturday

Could a week be more different?

Halloween, Algarve style

Halloween, Algarve style

You might wonder what a random bunch of Algarve kids are doing in my Six word Saturday. Lovely Colline in Toronto was kind enough to link a Halloween walk to my Monday walks feature. When I said I’d seen some small ‘trick or treaters’ whilst out walking in the Algarve, Colline, who is a teacher, said that she’d love to see them.  I thought that you might too.

The skyline that I love

The skyline that I love

Truthfully, it’s not been much of a week.  I’ve sniffled and snuffled my way through it, looking out of the window hopefully for blue skies, of which there have been few.  To be fair, we are clinging on to random bursts of Autumn colour, which I witnessed yesterday at t’ai chi, after a day of miserable rain.  The sun burst forth at teatime, just in time to set, and this morning a soupy grey fog is pushing up against the windowsill.  Soon I shall determinedly make my way out into it.  I’m tired of being cooped up.

I'm missing my empty beaches

But it’s not all doom and gloom.  I finally managed to activate my new smartphone last night and am looking forward to playing with Instagram (don’t hold your breath!).  Maybe my old friend will be waiting for me on that shoreline, refreshed from it’s swim.  Time will tell!

I'll look forward to next year's 'trick or treaters'

Meanwhile I’ll look forward to next year’s ‘trick or treaters’

Happy weekend to you all!  Don’t forget to visit Cate at Show My Face to share your Six word Saturday. I’ll be cosied up watching ‘Strictly’.  See you on Monday, for my walk!

  1. What a gorgeous beach just calling for you to walk along it. You need to make a poster size picture of it, hang it were you can see it, to keep you going through the UK winter

    1. Struggling to see how to get the Instagram app, Gem. I’m waiting on advice from my son, and if all else fails he will be home at the weekend. I need a small person. Can you spare him? 🙂
Thanks, darlin’. Be in touch soon!

    1. Back from the funeral. It was chilly by the graveside. I’m clutching a cuppa, in catchup mode for now, Paula. I’m not a fan of Halloween, which is one of the reasons I go to Tavira in October, but a few sunny trick or treaters I don’t mind. 🙂

  2. The halloween pictures are so cute but they pale in comparison to the beach shots… Hold on to the memories of the sun and the fun…

    1. Oh, I wish I was clever, Mrs. M! Then I wouldn’t have a smartphone that looks smugly at me from the side table, daring me to pick it up. (: I never was gifted with patience and I would so much rather do the things I like to do. But thanks! 🙂

  3. Oh, it sounds like your “Get up and go” “Got up and went!” It is hard for a busy and active explorer to be sidelined with a nasty bug! I hope that by now you’re feeling a return to your active normal. Your beaches are waiting for you…hope you’ll be able to enjoy soon! (You can send a little of that rain my way, ok?) 🙂

    1. Fog any good to you, Debbie? No, I don’t suppose so 🙂
Resigned to Winter, I suppose. I always have my grouchy head on when I come back from the Algarve at this time of year. One of these days I just won’t come back! 🙂 🙂 Thanks for the good wishes.

  4. Such a merry band of ‘Trick or Treaters’. Glad to hear that in spite of your sniffles, you’re still able to exercise. Hubby also has a cold and a sore throat which has lasted for 10 days now, but he still keeps going to gym and plodding on with the house renovations. Can’t give up because of a few snuffles. At least his throat is okay now. 🙂 Get well and feel better soon. xx

    1. I’m not usually such a grouch, Ad. A cold is just a cold. I just haven’t felt like venturing into mizzle and fog. But I have a lovely walk written for tomorrow, then I’ll just have to resign myself to English weather. Thanks, darlin’. 🙂

  5. Weather permitting we’re taking the boat out Wednesday to the beach. I’ll think of you as I’m gathering sea shells and making foot prints in the sand. I’ll even draw a large smiley face and send your way. The Algarve photos are lovely. Peaceful. 🙂

    1. No, Gilly! Sorry to mislead 😦 I got back last Friday and have felt a bit rough ever since. I think I should have stayed. (although it does rain in the Algarve and they have had some since I left)

  6. Sorry it’s been a sniffly snuffly week, although I can’t understand not relishing rain. Glad you got your phone functional. Did you lose much precious data overboard? I love your skyline too, framed as it is by railings. Your non-Halloween photos exude longing for the pleasures of the Algarve. And I like the framing of the Halloween ones.

    1. There wasn’t any data to loose, Meg 🙂 It wasn’t that kind of phone! I think pterodactyl’s used the one I had 🙂 That’s why I’m now having such difficulty getting operational. I have totally no patience for it and would so much rather play on here.
Sorry if I’m full of doom and gloom. I’m smiling really! 🙂

    1. After my ‘leaf shoot’ in the park and zumba I’ve huddled over the laptop all afternoon, Sherri, so my Monday walk is nearly written. Cheered me up no end! ‘Strictly’ soon, then I really must do battle with that phone. (tomorrow 🙂 )
