Six word Saturday

This is my last Awards post.

Why, you might ask?  I may never receive another and then the problem won’t arise.  But the fact is that I write a travel blog, and truly love doing it. When I began my blogging adventure, the concept of Awards was an amazement to me.  Then it did what it was supposed to do and introduced me to some wonderful people.  LOTS of wonderful people.

It is a point of pride with me that I respond to and visit every single person who places a like or a comment on my blog.   I will always do this.  And it will lead me to more wonderful people. Trouble is, it has a kind of snowball effect, though I hate to mention that word after the winter some of us have had! So I will wear my Awards with pride, and I will maintain an Awards page to thank those lovely people who have heaped honours on me.  Thank you all so much.  But I won’t be posting any awards acceptance posts after today.

Got to end with killer shoes!  This Seven Awards in One was passed on to me by Sherri Matthews. Talk about go out with a bang!  Sherri is a lovely lady who stays positive and full of warmth despite the difficulties presented by her daughter’s Asperger’s Syndrome.  I’ve learned a lot and laughed a lot alongside Sherri.  She is a pleasure to know.

Shelley at Living with Shadows was kind enough to bestow the Dragons Loyalty Award on me too. Nothing like a bit of fire on a winter’s morning, or even a chilly Spring one.  Shelley has her own health issues, but escapes into fantasy when she can.  If you can find the time, and haven’t met them, please go and say hello.

I couldn’t leave without a few Spring flowers by way of apology.  Enjoy your weekend, and don’t forget to share six words with Cate at Show My Face. My word count says 340.  I must have gone wrong somewhere!

    1. Thanks, Meredith. I appreciate that 🙂 It was a distinctly chilly English Spring this morning, with the odd hint of sleet to it! March often has one more snap at our heels before it departs.

  1. I still have awards from 2012 and early 2013 that I haven’t yet posted, and as much as I appreciate them I’m not sure if posting them is even relevant at this time.

  2. Oh Jo, you just haven’t learned to count have you 😉
You are a lovely person who writes wonderful posts so I’m not at all surprised that you get awards so often. If you find the time to visit everyone who ‘likes’ you then you are amazing! Thank you for the sunny flowers, it has been pretty cold here today with hail this afternoon, so they are a welcome warmth 🙂
    Jude xx

    1. Hi Jude 🙂 I always needed all my fingers and toes!
Thank you so much for the nice words- I hardly recognise myself sometimes. Yes, I do visit all the ‘likes’. Sometimes I would rather be writing posts, but if they’ve taken the trouble to like me I can at least see what they have to offer in exchange. Often it doesn’t go much further than that.
Sleet here today and bitter cold but mostly bright skies. It’s that sting in the tail March so often has.

  3. I always enjoy your blog, Jo, and I agree wholeheartedly about awards. They are a lovely and warm gesture but incredibly time consuming to respond to. I nominate you for the “thanks but no thanks” award. Just kidding. Have a great week-end!

    1. That tends to be what I think every time I see an awards post. 🙂 You’re right- you do get a flush of pleasure, but for me it’s outweighed these days by making the response. I never have time to visit all the other nominees, so it doesn’t really seem fair to carry on taking part. It’s great for newbies, though. I still remember the thrill of my first 🙂

  4. The choice is always yours, Jo. The most important thing is do blogging with happiness without any pressure from others.
Wish you have a great weekend over there. 😉

  5. Visiting your blog is a great enjoyment and reading your comment is always a reward for me.
Love your flower photos, Jo 🙂 Happy weekend!

  6. You deserve all the awards there is Jo. Your blog is always so full of fun and stunning photo’s. Love these flowers! Absolutely stunning! 😀 *big hugs*

    1. Spring is going wild around here, Sonel! But the temperatures have dropped and we even had some showers of sleet this morning 😦 Short- lived, I hope. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement, hon.

  7. Jo although I am just getting to know you, your gracious post today reflects your kind and sensitive nature.
Beautiful spring flowers by the way….still in the snow here….just saying.

    1. We actually had some showers of sleet this morning, Sue! Totally unexpected, but winter quite often has a sting in its tail. When do you leave for London? I’ll try and get things warmed up for you. You’ve got no chance of that happening in Inverness! Bring your woollies 🙂
Thanks for the kind words, by the way. I’m blushing!

      1. Jo no need to blush. I have appreciated your very warm welcome to the blogging world and really enjoy your posts and our chats.
We fly to Aberdeen on Wednesday where Hubby has meetings and then on to London Friday morning. I was just looking at the forecast and although I will leave my sleeping bag coat at home will definitely plan on some warmer clothes. Here’s hoping the sleet has stopped by then! 🙂

      2. Oh my Jo…that will really be pushing my adventurous nature to the limit. 🙂 I will need vast amounts of liquids to wash it down. I’m sure I should be able to find some in Scotland. What do you think?

      3. It’s sometimes part of a buffet breakfast up there, so you could just have a little taster? I had some in an Edinburgh hotel many years ago and really enjoyed it. Don’t think I’ve had it since, though!

      4. You have convinced me. Live with no regrets. Experience all a country has to offer. 🙂 I will be on the look out for it. A taster sounds like a good idea.

  8. Hi Jo ~~ You did right. 🙂 Some people like the awards and the associated fun that goes with. I stopped getting them a long time ago (well, almost). At a time there were so many good intentions abounded that I was flooded with them. I was going to make a special blog listing them and a sidebar link. But I never got there.

Your Spring Flower Show was nice, pretty, as usual. We are slow in blooming and ourselves don’t have too many of them personally. But a few to spruce up things. I really like watching our ginger plant bed in bloom. I weeded the bed and the bulbs are looking VERY prosperous this year. (things in bloom, ours starting with the ginger and our part of Texas–at least scroll down to checkout the Texas Bluebonnets)

    1. Those ginger plants are lovely, Jim 🙂 Gardening gets to be a chore as you get older, doesn’t it? But it is lovely to have the flowers. We have heathers and some bulbs on the front, and the back is a mix up of plants. The cherry blossom over in our neighbours is early this year and we benefit from that too.

  9. 🙂 You have responded in a gracious and kind manner about the awards. It is a lovely post about awards that probably others want to say also.

Many of us would most likely have responded in just a couple of words. lol
Continue what you do best …… sharing your pictures and adventures with us.

  10. I sure know what you mean, and quite awhile ago I took most of mine off my blog. I am so very delighted that you are only taking that away, I was worried for a minute that you were going to say that you were going to take a break from blogging! So many folks are these days, even if they don’t say it, they don’t seem to be around as much. Usually that only happens when the weather is incredibly wonderful, and the extremely wild winter we’ve had! I always enjoy stopping by to say hello, see what or where you are, and enjoy your great photos!

    1. Thanks a lot, Karen. I usually have compulsory blogging breaks when I’m away in Portugal or Poland because I only have a low tech phone and I quite enjoy being properly away from it all. Takes some catching up when you get back though 🙂

    1. No, I was thinking of our American friends, Richard, but it was sleeting a little bit while I was in the town this morning, so we’re not ‘out of the woods’ yet 🙂

  11. Jo, you’ll always be a winner in my book! 😉 You are a lovely person who writes an interesting, insightful and FUN blog, you deserve all your many awards. You also deserve the extra time in not responding to each and every nomination….you say thank you to everyone each time you post. Have a beautiful day!
