An object that tells a story was what Cheri asked for on the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. I hadn’t intended to take part this week but, returning from a flying visit to a retail park this afternoon, I caught a glimpse of one of my favourite bridges, silhouetted against a wonderful sky. “Can we stop for just a minute?” I asked, and was off like a whirlwind, clutching the camera.
The “story” for me is always what is on the opposite shore. I love the “invitation to cross” that a bridge always provides. How about you?
Have you entered yet? I’m off to read some of the other “stories”.

That is one mighty fine object. Fabulous photo Jo! 🙂

Had a power outage here again Jo. Workers from municipality had to fix one power line and cut another one in the process so we were without power nearly the whole day yesterday. Will go and check. 😀 *hugs*

It is a wonderful shape! And you’ve captured that sense of rising over and above what’s below. Three beautiful shots!

Thanks, Meghan 🙂 It really is a magical shape- especially illuminated at night but I’m seldom there. Probably a challenge too far as my night photography is rubbish!

Well you know that I love bridges, I’d have wanted to stop too! Is this a road bridge Jo? It doesn’t look very wide.

No, Jude- just a footbridge. Isn’t it a great shape? And my header worked a treat! 🙂 (but it still won’t look right if I switch to an Algarve post 😦 )

I think with headers you need to use a permanent one, can you use a featured image with this theme? That’s what I use so each post in effect has its own header, but the train is there all the time.
And yes, great shape – I’d like to walk across that 🙂

I tried the “set featured image” a moment or two ago with this and didn’t like it. Maybe if I had a permanent header – back to the problem of choosing one 🙂 I might try Random and see how that looks. Such fun!

I agree that a bridge is an invitation to cross, Jo. That’s a really cool looking bridge too. Your photos of it really do it justice. 🙂

I love this bridge, Cathy 🙂 The last photos of it I took didn’t sing because the sky was flat and grey. Today was great. For you too?

It was nice and warm, relatively speaking, but the sky was pretty gray too. I’m longing for a blue sky on a habitable day! 🙂
