Gone to Edinburgh. NOT Christmas shopping!
I’ve booked a last minute seat on a Christmas shopping coach trip to Edinburgh, just for the day. It’s years since I was in Edinburgh, and never at Christmas, so I’m quite excited to see Princes St. with its fairy lights.

Doubt I’ll get up as high as Arthur’s Seat, but you never know! I do know it will be COLD though. Leaving at the crack of dawn so I won’t be able to link to Six word Saturday till I get home. See you then!

I spent four days in Edinburgh in 1998, and fell in love with it. Unfortunately it’s a long trip from Australia so I’m unlikely to revisit, but I get nostalgic when I watch the Edinburgh Tattoo each year on TV.

Edinburgh is one of my favorite cities – so regal and proud – stunningly beautiful. First time I visit was a very cold, crisp November morning in 1998 – and I fell in love from the first moment I stepped of the train from Glasgow.
I traveled back to Brighton with the first Virgin train ever … leaving Edinburgh, fantastic journey – but when I came to London I had enough. Been back 10 times and I would love to go again. Looking forward to some beautiful posts now.

It’s maybe 2 and a bit hours by car, but then you’ve got parking and all those problems. The coach took more than 4 hours to get me there, and I had 5 hours to zip around in. It’s certainly a city full of character 🙂 Amazing what we all have access to, if we want to.

Hiya Colin! 🙂 I would have loved to have a quick meet up, but I didn’t like to impose. I wanted to see as much as possible in just a little time. I did think about asking you for a whistlestop tour, but chickened out 😦 I managed quite a bit, even half hour in your Scottish Parliament buildings.
The markets were havoc, and I contented myself with looking down from Scott’s Monument.

I liked Edinburgh although we’ve only been there once. One very long day. We drove up from our B&B at Crieff and went to where the Queen Elizabeth II’s yacht, HMY Britannia, was berthed. We left the car there and took the bus down to old town and the castle area. It was soooo nice a visit.
I hope your visit was as nice or nicer than ours. BTW, parking was free at the Ocean Terminal and the city bus picked us up out front.

It was a coach trip, Jim, so I had no worries. Dropped off at the end of Princes St and once I’d worked out where the castle was (I have totally no sense of direction) I was off and going 🙂 Leith, where the yacht is berthed, is said to be a great place to stay these days. I have some friends going up there today for a couple of nights.(more relaxed than me 🙂 )
