Happy Easter from a generous friend
I “won” this beautiful floral arrangement as a raffle prize at my friend Kath’s house on Thursday. Traditionally we have a Girl’s night at her home in Newcastle just before Christmas, but last year we had to defer, and it became an Easter celebration. As if to make up for lost time, Kath pulled out all the stops and threw her heart and soul into the evening.
The mantelpiece was adorned with woolly lambs and fluffy bunnies, and giant pastel Ikea eggs, which rattle mysteriously, have accompanied us home as an Easter “surprise”. There was Pimms in a punch bowl of fruit and mint, and heaps of the most delicious food and drink. Kath was aided and abetted in the kitchen by partner, Trevor, and I musn’t forget the star turn- Koffee, their large chocolate brown poodle, who delights in raiding handbags.
My own home is less flamboyantly decorated, but the hearth has a splash of Easter colour, and the mantlepiece a card or two from my Polish family.
Hope you will all have a blessed and peaceful Easter, surrounded by family and wonderful friends like these. Thank you so much, Kath. You made it very special.

🙂 Such a pretty Easter basket arrangement, Jo. I love it and can tell that you do also. It sounds like a very nice party was had.
You might could have had a late Christmas party. We had our Sunday school class Christmas party at our house last Saturday afternoon (the reason why I did not 6WS last week). Now we are calling it our ‘after Christmas party.’
There were 27 of us present, our ‘official age’ group on paper is “70 and over.” I think everyone is from their late 60’s and into the upper 80’s. You can see why we don’t ever get ready for the Christmas party before Christmas.
!!! HAPPY EASTER !!! (p.s. Mrs. Jim belongs to a younger class of which I am an associate member, she says she ‘isn’t old enough’ for our class. But I teach there so it never mattered for me.)
Our London plans have been deferred, now probably it will be this summer.

Ours was an unofficial Christmas one, Jim. In fact, Kath (there are 2 of them, just to confuse- the one in the photo is not the hostess) asked where the Christmas tree was!
Happy Easter to you all!

Easter pastels, though not the gaudy, splashy flashes of summer, are certainly welcome after winter. Looks like you had a blast & are lucky to have taken some of it home with you.

So nice to be appreciated – especially with a lovely arrangement. Must admit it’s your retreating hellebores that really shine for me – sooooo long since I could grow them 🙂

Feeling tired from zumba, Vicky, but I’m going to force myself to have a stroll on the seafront because it’s a shame to waste it when we’ve waited so long.

Hope the stroll was a good one. I could do with the cobwebs being blown away on the coast
