Jakesprinter’s Sunday Post : Arrangement

sunday-post-logo-2013-180-x-138

An Arrangement naturally speaks to me of flowers.  For many years I have been captivated (wasn’t that last week’s theme?) by the artistry of the Chelsea Flower Show.  Each year I think, maybe this year?  Well, it might be, but in the meantime let me show you some of the most striking arrangements of flowers that I have ever witnessed.

Once every 4 years Tomar in Central Portugal comes alive with the Festa dos Tabuleiros.  When you see the number of paper flowers involved I think you will know why it only takes place 4 yearly.

Chelsea it’s not, but every bit as special in it’s own way.  Click on the first photo to start the slide show rolling.  This link will take you to my original post on the Festa dos Tabuleiros.  What a day that was!

What else does arrangement signify?   Arranged marriages came to mind, probably because I’m reading a historical novel at present.  Check out Jakesprinter’s page to see other interpretations.  Just click on the lucky snake logo or the link.

    1. Yes, the interpretations are interesting, Milka. I loved your dolls. I can usually find a couple of routes to go with the challenges. Sticking to one is sometimes the hard part.

  1. Those are paper flowers?……..WOW!!
So colourful, and soooo much hard work gone into the displays.
It could only be done in a hot climate, can you imagine in this country, four years planning, only to be washed away in the rain.

      1. Quite a high possibility as Easter is early this year, not that that makes any difference, seeing we’ve had snow in June.

  2. When I saw Jake’s theme, the first thing I thought was flowers as well. You have topped my expectations with your beautiful photos of the flower arrangements at the Chelsea Flower Show. I have never seen so beautiful as the streets dressed so well. Thanks you for giving us such a wonderful view.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

  3. What a flower festival … absolute fantastic gallery. I have always wanted to be at the flower festival at Jersey, but I never made it .. while living over in UK. Never been to Chelsea flower show, but been to Hampton Court Flower Show – twice, fantastic visits, even if I’m not a gardener.

  4. What fabulous photos, it looks like so much fun. I love flowers – perhaps I need to go to the Chelsea flower show too, I have heard of it, but never been.

    1. Thanks, Madoqua. It’s on TV twice a day for a week at the end of May and I’m usually glued to every second, and I don’t even like TV! I expect it’s very busy though.

    1. July 2015 is the next Madhu, in case you’re planning ahead? The link gives details of a good village to stay nearby. The event is on for a whole week and Tomar is a lovely place.

    1. It’s one of those hot in Summer, freezing in Winter places, Lorna, but very lovely even without the paper flowers.
Have you changed your website, or have I just been visiting your old one?

  5. Beautiful arrangement of pictures, Jo! I went to the Chelsea Flower and Garden Show one year with two of my girlfriends. It was so astonishingly crowded that I thought I one point I wasn’t going to be able to come up for air. From the little I could see, it was beautiful, but I think I would have preferred the calmer Festa dos Tabuleiros!

    1. Ah, then I feel better about it now, Elisa, thanks! It was pretty hectic in Tomar, but so lovely. At this rate, it’ll still be snowing here for Chelsea! That’d be a first?
