Six word Saturday

A Wedding Invitation and a Hug

It’s no secret that I have a talented and very artistic daughter.  Her cards often arrive late, but are always a pleasure to receive.  The Easter card shown above brought particular joy because out of it slipped a small black invitation card.

Lisa has led an often troubled life and has had much to overcome.  I am enormously proud of her, and can hardly wait for this most special of occasions.  Slight doubts though, as to what the mother of the bride wears to a Steampunk Wedding?  The honeymoon will be in Venice, for Carnavale, lucky girl.  To attend is a lifelong dream of hers.  I wish them all the love and luck in the world.

As if this wasn’t enough to gladden my week, I have also been awarded a Hug from Francine in Retirement.   I’ve long been an admirer of Francine’s blog so was truly humbled to receive this nomination.  Not being sure of blog etiquette in this matter, I need to point out that I had previously been nominated for the Hug Award by Alyson Sheldrake of The Thought Palette.  On that occasion I wrote A hug a day in acceptance of the award, and nominated a couple of blogs.  I plan to extend that nomination today to:

Ana at 1001 Scribbles

Patti of Read Me

Elisa at Fun and Fabulousness

Sonel at Sonel’s Photographic Corner

All of these blogs give me enormous pleasure.  I should also say thank you to Conny on A Hope for Today who originated the Hug Award.

Please join me next week on Cate’s Six word Saturday and we’ll see just what the week’s brought.  You could even have a little fun and play too?

    1. Join in! You can post as long or as short as you want, and I like it because it’s something different to my travel stuff, though I usually do relate it to travel (I relate EVERYTHING to travel- ask my husband!) Just follow the link to Cate’s blog “Show my face” and the instructions are all there. Sometimes I prepare mine on Friday if I’m going to be very busy on the Saturday but you can’t actually post it in advance. I know cos I tried the last time I was going to the Algarve.
It’ll give you another range of people to meet and it’s as fun or as serious as you like. Have I sold it yet? I should get Brownie points from Cate! See you on Saturday? And thanks!

  1. How Awesome!… and exciting, and I am most happy for you and your lovely daughter! Also I’m sure she really won’t care what you wear, just as long as you’re there and wearing a gigantic smile! I really enjoyed the picture with here pointing to, possibly what their cake may be? Or what ever, it looks like a shop I’d be excitied to see! Congrats on your Blog hug too!

    1. Hi Karen! Lisa is “posing” outside a very nice tea and cake shop (wine and coffee too, of course) called “The Walk” in Nottingham. It’s a great city for foodies. Last time I was there we were admiring a new cake design shop that had set up and there were some superb efforts in the window, but Lisa has some very crafty friends and one of them does cakes so we were mostly just looking.

I have a guide on Nottingham that features The Walk on the Thelma and Louise website http://www.thelmaandlouise.com/travel-guide/Nottingham-tea-cake-and-shopping-heaven Not sure if the site will let you in without you joining? I wrote a few things for them but haven’t had time lately, and am not really looking for people to holiday with, which is the whole point of the site. It just makes me envious too- even worse than blogging!

  2. Oh, wow! Congratulations, Ms. Jo and also to Lisa & Leonardo.
I agree that you should ask your daughter for suggestions — all of us girls in the family made sure our Ma looked fabulous on our wedding dates. 🙂

    1. Thanks David! I knew it was happening but they had some problems with the venue so this was a happy resolution. Leo proposed at a Victorian event last year. The 2 of them have no problem with dressing up!

      1. You’re welcome!

Currie, like the dish. When you put my name together Currie Rose, I become a spicy flower…. I named myself like that. 🙂

        Thank you!

  4. Congratulations Jo, as a former MOB I suggest you wear something fabulous, as my girls used to tell me… think about the photos! I actually wound up letting them decide what I should wear to their weddings. LOL
