A palace fit for a Queen

Did you spot the clue? The diminutive figure at the foot of the stairs. This is the magnificent Caserta Palace, home to Queen Amidala in the Star Wars movie, The Phantom Menace. Just one of many things we did to keep a small boy entertained on holiday. A train ride from Naples, we were equally enthralled by the cascata, a series of cascades, rippling down through the awe-inspiring gardens fronting the palace.
Bright memories – 11

What an incredible structure Jo – I love the perspective you chose for your shot. Fit for a queen indeed!

Thatβs a very grand staircase! The Star Wars reference is way over my head. I watched the original when it came out and wasnβt inspired to keep going. Just another of my oddities!

Not odd at all, Anabel. Each to her own. But the Caserta Palace was a star in it’s own right π π

A beautiful building. Reading the comments and seeing the steps has reminded me of how the daleks used to be thwarted if you could get to stairs, because they couldn’t levitate back then or I think not. If they could, I had forgotten by the time it came to seeing the Christopher Eccleston version. I remember my feeling of horror when the goodies came to some stairs and the daleks started floating.

Eek! I never saw that version. I was never a huge Doctor Who fan and the daleks got on my nerves, but my daughter has remained a fan of the series to this day π€π

My grandsons are into Star Wars at the moment – Lorenzo had Darth Vader on his birthday cake a fortnight ago and Luca has a Stormtrooper on his today. All little boys are enchanted by the series. I just wish I had kept all MY boys Star Wars toys. We had a magnificent Millennium Falcon.
