Looking up and back!

This is where we started, isn’t it? Awestruck by the amazing spectacle that is Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia. I can’t resist another couple of images.

But it would be wrong to stop there. Barcelona is so much more! A kaleidoscope of colour and interwoven parts. Come with me, one last time!

  2. Beautiful visit to a beautiful city Jo. I’ haven’t been back in years but Barcelona is one of those places that one doesn’t soon forget! Proof positive that you really do spend the time to “really see” and appreciate the beauty that’s around you.

  12. Wonderful photos Jo! I will be catching up on your other posts tomorrow – we had another shock today as we’ve been ordered into a snap 5 day total lockdown only going out for essential supplies and 1 hour’s exercise each day wearing a mask in our neighbourhood. There has been a breach in one of the quarantine hotels in the city – a security guard working there has tested positive to Covid most probably one of the new strains and has been out and about in the community for the past few days. The authorities here want to stamp it out before it gets a hold so we are in this strange situation. We were able to go to our elder granddaughter’s birthday party the other side of Perth at lunchtime then collected some supplies for Mlle our other daughter and ourselves en route home. Lockdown started 20 minutes agao! We’ve been so lucky and have been able to lead pretty well normal lives so it has come as a shock – can really empathise with people who’ve faced worse hardship than us over the past few months. I shall do a blogging day tomorrow as all plans have been cancelled! Hope you’ve had a good weekend, take care xx 🙂

    1. I read about that somewhere on the Net, hon, but didn’t make a connection with you. Funny what you can adjust to when you have to! We’ve just come back from walking in the lanes, which is pretty much all we’re allowed at present. We’re all in this together, aren’t we? Take care darlin 🤗💕💕

      1. Quite Jo – very disappointing though as we have done so well here in Western Australia (we’re in Perth). It’s going from nothing to a full lockdown in a matter of hours that is a bit shocking. We thought it was a joke when my daughter’s sister in law saw it on her phone (we were all at my granddaughter’s birthday party when we heard the announcement). We can at least go for walks as long as it’s not too far from home and we’ll just have to adjust. Sounds like we’re in the same boat – it’s even stricter than the lockdowns last March and April when we last had cases in the community here. Take care and I’ll catch up during the week xx 🙂

      2. You just have to think how lucky you were to be able to go to any kind of celebration, hon. That’s been frowned upon here but you don’t really have juristriction over what happens in people’s homes. I went to the bakery yesterday and 2 young girls were collecting the most beautiful birthday cake. Chocolate and fully topped with strawberries 😋💕 This will pass, hon. Sending hugs 💕💕

      3. Oops sorry Jo just seen this -thanks so much! Yes I know we have been very lucky here and the strict lockdown has been precautionary – better safe than sorry. I don’t think everyone here fully understands what has been gone on elsewhere in the world and although most people have supported the lockdown there have been some grumbles. It is hard for our UK families and for so many at present – we seem to spend a lot of time Skyping trying to keep spirits up. The chocolate and strawberry birthday cake sounds delicious – hope the girls enjoyed the treat. After a really hot spell the weather has broken and it’s been pouring with rain all day – fantastic news for those fighting the bushfires! Hope all’s well with you, take care xx 🙂 🙂

      5. Yes unfortunately the recent one on the outskirts of Perth was probably the worst I can remember for a long time Jo – so close to the metro area. You expect them each year (well not where we are as we are near the coast) but many homes have been lost to this latest fire plus farm animals and wildlife but fortunately no lives. Last night some idiot lit some more fires down in the south west near Yallingup (one of our favourite places which I’ve blogged about a few times). Mercifully the heavy rain has helped douse them and the ones in the east of Perth near the hills. Up north they’ve had terrible flooding – parts of the main highway that Mlle and her friend used when they drove from Broome down to Perth last December have been washed away. It’s really cool for the time of the year here in Perth – continuous rain since yesterday and back in winter woollies! Mlle said yesterday she finds it really refreshing after the heat – she’s really acclimatising to being back here in Perth!! We always love it when the weather starts to cool down in autumn or we get a summer cold snap but it would be different if we lived in northern Europe!

  14. These photos remind me that Barcelona has changed for me now that it’s Emily’s home. I’ve had time to explore hidden, lesser known gems, but need to remember that the tourist sites are tourist sites for a reason. Thanks for the memories!

      2. Oh, you and my daughter can go on a bar crawl, for sure. She’s shown us quite a few. I’ve not really cracked Street Art Central in Barcelona yet. A fun day coming up one day, I think!

      1. I’ll do both with you. I’ve still not been up Montserrat and I be been to the Dali museum but a very long time ago. I think a fortnight in Barcelona should do the trick 😀😀
