I love the perspective and feel of this one, Jo! Happy birthday to James. It will have to be virtual city trip. Or, a walk to the beach. Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Liesbet! He lives city centre, close by a canal, but canal paths can be a bit busy so he’ll be heading for a country park not too far away. π π
That’s such a cool photo, Jo, and squares within a square or, how do you put it…sqwares? I can’t recall if that’s right or not, but you get my drift. Happy birthday to your son. I had my last birthday right as Covid was becoming a thing in March or 2020. We’d had a big celebration two weeks earlier for my husband and a great friend who have birthdays on the same day and were planning the same for mine. Alas, it was not to be, but two sets of dear friends braved the then-unknown to get together and host a lovely little party for me. Won’t be much going on this year as we haven’t had time to make friends here, but that’s fine.
Well, we can either treat every day as a celebration, or none, Janet π π There are just 3 of them at home but they’ll be happy in each other’s company. We Skyped earlier.
An interesting perspective. Genna and I had a lovely cocktail down by the water. Barcelona really does have something for everyone. I’m sure James will have a lovely day being spoiled. And he can always have a takeaway dinner! Which city is next on his list?
It’s a nice spot, isn’t it? We took a little boat ride around the harbour that day, as well. π π We skyped earlier and very gooey cinnamon flavoured doughnuts appeared to be the treat of choice. Not my thing at all! π Not sure about that last. He does love Lisbon and would like to take his lady there. He had thought they might manage Paris because they hope to be attending a wedding in Normandy in July. Too difficult! They’ll be happy if they can just get to the venue, and here in the summer hols.
Paris, Lisbon, Tavira – sounds like something to look forward to. Of course travelling is going to be difficult for some time to come. I’m not even going to think about it.
That’s a shame. Of course we have no idea what life will be like by July. Is James still working? I would have thought going into peoples’ homes at the moment to be quite risky.
2 days a week. They’re mostly elderly so not going out much, if at all, and some of them have already had the vaccine. I know that doesn’t really help James, but having a job does! He’s hoping to get the vaccine himself soon. I still have reservations about that but it will possibly be a rekwuirement of travel. π¦
Reservations? I can’t see me being offered one before Easter. Alex ought to be in the next group after me. But we don’t know how long this protection will be for or whether it stops the spread of this horrid disease.
The discussion could go on and on, but still the statistics on people dying is weighted heavily towards 80-90 year olds. Maybe I’ll feel differently if I get to that age but I honestly think we should just get on with our lives. While we still can! There are too many younger people being broken by trying to make a living in the midst of this. It’s wrong!
Personally I don’t think this is about saving the 80+ (in UK) but about trying to keep them out of hospital as they are taking up beds needed for other patients. If the NHS had been properly funded this last decade we may not have been in this situation. It’s a crying shame.
Nice shot, Jo, but did James visit the Gaudi sites? I thought maybe this would be a continuing family tradition! Meanwhile, have two slices of cake, one from me as well as it was my birthday on Monday last – possibly the worst birthday ever!
Thanks, Frank! He’s my son. He and his partner had a very enjoyable few days in Barcelona for her birthday, the year before last, when such things were possible. He very much liked the bars and the vibe π€π
It wasn’t too bad. A shopping excursion with my youngest daughter and lunch for the middle ones birthday. Rather hot though 31C glad it’s cooling a bit now π
She is thirty-three π It is good to be able to and have the chance that everyone is able to. Quite often someone will be working or something else is going on with family. π π
Happy birthday James! An amazing shot, love all the reflections, Jo!
