Reaching for the skies in a spirit of optimism this New Year’s morning. I am, of course, looking up and taking part in Becky’s January challenge. Let me wish you all a Happy New Year! May the year bring peace, calm, good health and not too many more challenges.
Let us all look up and find hope. We are so grateful that the fall of 2019 found us in Barcelona and taking in much of Gaudi’s brilliance. It was in the midst of riots in the city and little did we know at the time what lay ahead in 2020. A wonderful capture and perspective of his artistry.

I don’t think I have ever been awed by a building more than when I walked into Sagrada Familia, Sue. It’s phenomenal π π Thank you, and I hope you had a good New Year with family?

Great shot – I have this building featuring in one of my Friday Flashbacks. With the lack of new places to visit and no new photos I am resorting to looking back at older posts this year, at least until spring!

Thanks a lot, Jude. I’m planning to feature Barcelona in Skwares. I was looking back and trying to do a tidy up of folders and I fell in love with it all over again. It has some wonderful architecture, and I did spend a lot of time looking up π π

I don’t want one enough. The hassle of getting to know a new one outweighs the inconvenience of the lack of Cue. Except when Becky is running her darn rectangles π π She tells me she has a plug in keyboard but I can’t imagine why. Unless it’s Portuguese!

Plug in keyboards make it much easier to type as you don’t have that flipping mouse pad in the way. The OH has one. I don’t, but I do have a mouse.

Yes, yes and yes. Look for the positives – it may yet get us through these next few months when we are trying to ignore the negatives of lack of Covid information, lying politicians, stupid laws that are changed too frequently, and Brexit. Was ever a new year so beset with ill omens! A friend from USA who came home to visit his aged parents paid Β£150 for the test to fly out last Thursday but a ‘jobsworth’ at Heathrow refused to let him fly because the test has to be “72 hours before flying”. His was 74 hours! Can you believe it? He’s now booked another test (another Β£150) for Tuesday, changed his ticket (more admin. fees) and keeping his fingers crossed. I didn’t realise how much these tests cost if you are not Covid risk. Shut up, Marie. Be positive and Smile!

Flying to the UK these holidays was probably a risk too far, Mari. I wish we’d done it, but I know a few people who came unstuck one way or another. As always, somebody is making money out of the situation. I hope the parents are alright, and I bet they were delighted with the visit. π π Happy New Year, hon! Smiling at you π

It would. It is a great city and easy to move around in. Lisbon and Paris are also good – I like cities that have a small centre.
