Traditional. Single storey. With maybe a neighbour to chat to? Surrounded by greenery, but not enough to block the view. With a bench to sit on to admire that view. What kind of view? Something like this might do.

But it’s not perfect. There’s no chimney, Becky!
Cute

I like the neat look off that house, although the windows should be bigger to take advantage of the lovely view. My dad was a builder, so I started looking at house plans when I was young. I thought at one time that I wanted to be an architect. I went into teaching instead.

I’ve always liked the style of the traditional houses here, Nikki, but they do always tend to have small windows. To keep heat out, I imagine. π π A covered porch would be good. Me in my rocking chair π But it would spoil the look of the house.

Lovely! With all this blue around, who needs a chimney?

A wall of blue and a beautiful view – can’t ask for more than that!

Oh, those blues in both photos are just so pretty. When I came to Arizona to look for a house, I looked only at one-story homes because my husband doesn’t really want to do stairs, but even more so, a two-story house is hellishly expensive to keep cool in summer (which lasts about 6 months) and since the bedrooms are usually upstairs, you really have to keep it cool.

I’ve always loved the bungalow style traditional houses here but we have a modern house, and actually it’s rather difficult to heat in the winter. I do miss my English central heating sometimes π π

Something like this might do for us as well! Nice house Jo
Although I do prefer two stories – the things you pointed out made it sound so charming – it also seems strong and don’t proof –

Small and simple works for me, Yvette. We currently have 3 storeys if you count the roof terrace, and that’s an important part for me. π π

If there’s a view and a peaceful environment, I’m very flexible. It’s all about how does it make me feel? And if it’s near the water, a tent works! π
