No beach walks until June 1st!
The State of Emergency in Portugal is to be lifted from Monday, 4th May, in gradual stages. I’m not happy that beaches won’t reopen until 1st June.
I’ll just have to make do! There are worse places to be, and plenty of curves and clouds to play with. 2020 Photo Challenge #17
So many varieties! Thanks, Jude! Or you can always be playful with Debbie’s wonderful Six Words. Either way, have a great weekend!

How beautiful!. Our beaches are slowly opening but obviously it’s hard to enforce the distance required to stay safe. We’ll see.

Until the tourists come back, ours would be fine. That is the annoying thing! 😦

You take care, Jo, and stay sensible

Did you read my response to Andrew? Is that what provoked the comment? 🙂 I’m just mildly scatter-brained most of the time.

Oh, heavens, that seems ages, LolaWi! I can already feel a difference in the atmosphere here. We have children playing out again! Under supervision, of course 🤗💕

I don’t want them to rush end of lockdown or else what was the point?

Yes, I’m well aware, Andrew. Some would argue that there never was any point and it should have been allowed to run it’s course. Mick is very cynical about the whole thing and the vested interests that we never really understand. You know I’m not political but sometimes he has a point. Saving lives? Which set of statistics do we believe? I’m no defender of tourism and some things absolutely need to change. But there are people on their knees as a result of these restrictions and they cannot survive without an income. Hops down off soapbox 🙄💕

I believe that the only point was to stop the health services being overwhelmed, as happened in Italy. It has had a devastating effect on the tourist industry here too, which is basically all Cornwall has. But with only one hospital and 15 intensive care beds it would have been a disaster if tourists had been allowed to come. Now we have the Nightingale hospitals set up so any covid patients will be sent there. I think there will be many deaths still to come.

Yes Jude, but often with the result of empty hospitals and undiagnosed patients waiting for treatment. It all depends on your point of view. 🤔💕

I think it also depends on where you live. Our health service was not prepared, lockdown has bought time to have the resources in place. I don’t like it any more than you do, but that’s what happens when you underfund essential services. As for Portugal I don’t know, other than what they saw happening in Spain, who I thought had a good health service.

In our immediate area the virus was brought in by immigrant workers in the agricultural sector and they have been detained at a secure location on the edge of town. We are only talking about a dozen cases.

We can walk on our beaches still (but they are deserted) but I can’t post any images until I get my new site up and running – then maybe.

Deserted is the way I like them, Mari. Looking forward to you being able to post again 🤗💕

I know, Carol, but it’s perfect beach weather right now. I don’t like it so much when the tourists arrive but they are the lifeblood of the Algarve 🤗🏖️💕

What a bliss to see you wonderful, sunny beaches with lovely lines and curves, Jo.
We have only been to the beach once since the lockdown. It’s tolerated for the locals to have a leg stretch down to the sea, but along the coast in Norfolk the access to all roads are closed and surely will remain so for a while. xx

I know how lucky I am, Dina. My son lives in Leeds inner city in an apartment and is really struggling for space and open air. 😮💕

Oh bummer, Jo. You’d think it would be easy to social distance on a beach…but like many things, a couple knuckleheads ruin it for all. Gorgeous photos! ❤

Perfect beach weather too! The Portuguese don’t start going to the beach until June normally so it won’t worry them. And there are no tourists 😎🏖️💕

Gorgeous photos Jo, the first two are so blue 🙂 I’m missing a beach too, in fact I’m missing the whole camping thing so can’t wait until we can finally start travelling again.

No, I can imagine, Eunice. Not long, hopefully, but with responsibility is not so easy 🤗💕

Nice curves and so beautifully blue Jo. We were let out today to shop, picnic and drive 50km if we wanted to. Our local beach was never closed, but now people from further afield can visit us. But it was the coldest start to May for a long time so there wasn’t the crowds that they expected. We stayed home….June 1st is still quite a wait.

Always positives and negatives, Pauline. The thing is to keep tourists away and hope for responsibility from people 😮💕

Lovely curves, and that first shot is especially fun. Your handiwork? Barcelona daughter is very excited this morning as they’ve been allowed out of the flat for the first time (apart from extremely local shopping) in five weeks. I don’t know whether the beaches are out of bounds or not though.

No, not mine… Just before they closed the beaches we watched a young man doing this, and just haven’t had the opportunity to share it. (Didnt ‘suare’ very well 🙂 ) I honestly don’t know if I could have coped with not going out.

It was tough. Another friend has a daughter in Italy who was confined for even longer in a small flat with her husband and new baby. They’ve all done remarkably well.

California’s having a hard time because the beaches have been open and crowded.

Yes, I know that’s an issue, Carol. Traditionally summer here starts on 1st June, not unlike in Italy. Portuguese families would rarely go to the beach before then even though the weather might be perfect People still need to be responsible! 🙂 🙂
