Tasting the fruit of the vine
One of our loveliest days on our recent Algarve visit took us to Quinta do Francês, on a wine-tasting tour. ‘Awful!’ I hear you exclaim. As the visit was a present from our son and partner, we felt duty bound to attend, and to sample the produce. It really was rather nice!
The winery is owned by French pathologist, Patrick Agostini, and the wines grown locally in the Odelouca River Valley. Our guide Tania was knowledgeable and interesting. We toured the machine room and the cellar, where barrels of new and aged oak are kept. And then, the tasting!
I could just fancy a glass… Six Words, of course! Debbie has cash in pocket and another brilliant six words this week. Don’t forget to join her. But first I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who commented on What do you want from me? this week. The response was simply overwhelming. I guess I’ll carry on, doing what I do.

Well that was a lovely present and it would have been rude not to accept. I didn’t know they made wines in the Algarve and I see from the map that this vineyard is in a lovely location, I may even have passed close by at one time. Not had any wines from here, though we do like the red wines from the Douro region. Only trouble I have with wine tasting that unless I travel by coach then I can only have a few sips. Still I never let that put me off a visit 😀
Cheers me dear, almost time to open a bottle 😉

I over indulged last night, Jude, so I’ll hang fire for a while. 🙂 🙂 The setting was lovely and made a great day out overall as we added in Alte and Silves.

Wine! Now that’s one product of Portugal that I like. 😀 I’ve liked Port, and still do so. I remember finishing off a good dinner in an English rearsurant with some Port and Stilton. 🙂 So yummy and relaxing. Another wine I like is a Vinho Verde. Refreshing.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Pit

Azulejos are always so cool. I love the picture with the red flowers at the side. And the light shining through the green bottles. I don’t know much about Portugese wine, except of course Porto and in summer a nice glass of vinho verde. 🙂

Oh, marvellous! In the days when I used to drive around Europe, one of the things that was a ‘must do’ was wine tasting…France, Germany, Austria, Italy…. Anyway, enjoyed this post, and those lovely Azulejos. And yippee, your blog will still be!! 😀💕
