The culmination of a lovely week!
It’s been a busy couple of weeks but I’m back, just in time to join in with the very last of Becky’s Square Roofs. I thought I’d share a few roofs that she might be familiar with. Above is the roof top bar at the Maria Nova Hotel in Tavira.
The captions might be helpful, or maybe not. Almost all are in Tavira. The other I have observed fondly for years.
I had a wonderful time and then, to cap it all off, I met Andrew Petcher yesterday. Right here in Hartlepool marina. How very strange is life? Debbie’s Six Words this week are very appropriate. I hope you’ll join us all and have a great weekend.

Ok should join in the square roof challenge, I saw loads in Barcelona from top of Sagrada Familia.

So the roofless restaurant is a going concern?? Amazing.

ah, I’m glad to learn that pigeon droppings etc aren’t falling into the food being prepared below! Picturesque is good, though. 🙂

What a glorious and varied collection. You are always lavish in your offerings. Let’s hope someone else catches it and becomes a lavish house-buyer. Hugs in the lull before another sand-slogging walk.

Images and captions made me smile and that’s good. You won’t be packing all summer, will yo0u? Hope you’ll have time to do some more walks and keep us entertained, and for you to enjoy the summer as well, of course.

I have walks currently overflowing from the camera, Mari. It’s a question of where to start. 🙂 🙂 And no- I probably ought to but we’ve not had much interest yet so it’ll probably be last minute panic when it happens. I have some exciting things happening in the next few weeks, and no doubt some of them will make their way to the blog. Thanks for your lovely company. 🙂

I’m glad you had a fantastic time, Jo! Welcome back. Your squares are wonderful. Good luck with the house! My parents sold theirs in Belgium after one day on the market. I’m officially homeless now. 🙂

It’s surprising how much it varies, Liesbet. We seem to have hit the market at the wrong time here. We’ll wait and see. Many thanks to you 🙂 🙂

I love Portuguese roofs, and these are great, Jo, even the non-roof. I love the views from the plane. I’m really looking forward to being in Portugal again. 🙂

The non-roof makes me smile. It sits right next to that restaurant and has got worse as the years go by. Finally someone has bought it and I don’t know whether as a private dwelling or part of the restaurant. I’ll keep watching. Roughly when do you hope to be in Porto? Has Mike booked flights yet? X
LikeLike
Neither of us has booked flights yet, but I hope to leave by September 1 and Mike to join by October 24 or so, possibly till November 4 or 5. That’s the time frame we’re looking at, but I need to get busy nailing it all down. I can’t wait to go back to Portugal. I just hope I won’t be hobbling by then. I’ll let you know when I nail down our plans further. I’m pretty stuck on that September 1 date as I’ve already reserved my night at Refuge Orisson for the first night over the Pyrenees.

Not sure that we’ll be able to join you in Lisbon or Porto then, Cathy. The half term holiday starts here on 26th October and James and family are coming out for the week. Lisa will follow them, on or around 4th November because it’s my 70th on the 5th. It may be possible to do a couple of nights while James is there- gives them the place to themselves. We’ll have to see 🙂 🙂

Ok, well, if you can’t I certainly understand. It sounds like you have a lot of fun things planned with family. Still, I’ll let you know as our plans solidify, just in case. 🙂

Ok, we certainly will keep in touch. It may be a couple of weeks before I can get things booked; as soon as I do, I’ll be able to tell you exactly when and where we’ll be. 🙂 How long will you be in Tavira for the summer?

We don’t plan to go back to Tavira till late September. Depends on the house sale. Lots of things happening here over the summer, including Mick’s 65th 🙂 🙂 No real hurry to let me know.

A roof bonanza including the ‘roof-that-was’. Lovely shots all round and making Tavira look so very appealing. A good weekend to you and Mick, sun or not. I think it’s probably got itself stuck over Shropshire. We nearly boiled yesterday, and that was indoors with everything shaded and open.

If I give it a good yank maybe it’ll come our way and let you cool off a bit, Tish. 🙂 🙂 Though I ought to be fair- we did have our share of sunshine and balmy evenings in the Algarve. No fun to work in and I’m sure the hosepipe bans are a-coming. Thanks, darlin. I’m zumba’d out. Just going to feed Mick and collapse for a bit.

We are planning to move there full time this Autumn but a little depends on our house sale in England. This last visit was just a week’s holiday for my hard working husband. 🙂 🙂

I am in the planning stage too. Although I haven’t been to Tavira long enough to commit a move there, I was thinking either Lisbon or Porto.

As a permanent home, or part year? The weather this year has been strange indeed. I heard this morning that our favourite beach bar over on the Ilha had to close due to overnight rain! Whether this unsettled pattern is going to be the future, who knows? Our Algarve neighbours have a house on the Lisbon coast and always complain about the weather there but they are Portuguese. It almost certainly compares well with north east England, love it though I do. 🙂

Hmmm. It has been here as well. Although I don’t like the heat as I’m perfectly fine with stuck in the 70’s but hopefully. It too much rain as that ruins the land. Thinking temporarily at first.
