Six word Saturday

Goodbye to a worn out year!

A chance remark gave me this week’s six words, but I do like to leave you with a smile.  Remember my Monday walk, Yarn bombing in Yorkshire?  I had cause to return to Thirsk this week and what should I find in Market Square but these cheeky characters.

Nothing to do but smile, is there?  I’d had a bit of a walk round, of course, and discovered more of the town history on information boards.  Thirsk is well equipped for walkers of all grades. And just a few reminders of Christmas past…

I walked past White Rose Book Cafe once, but I couldn’t walk past it twice.  You’ll be expecting cake, but it was really cold and I had a warm cheese scone instead.  Heaven!  You’ll have to come back on Monday for cake, and then it’ll be a New Year.  Thank you for sharing this one with me.

I know it’s been a bad year for some of you.  We can only hope for better, can’t we?  Wishing you, as I always do, good health and happiness in the year ahead.  I hope to be in Norfolk with Polish family for New Year.  Please snow, start thawing now.  Over to Debbie for some magic!

  1. A book shop WITH cake? I’d be in second heaven there. And the woollies are fabulous especially Shaun 🙂 2017 has been an exhausting year for so many; continual bad news, that horrid man in the White House… it just has to get better, because we really don’t want it to get worse!

  3. I love the knitted/crocheted animals, the first one has got to be Shaun the Sheep. 🙂

Happy New Year Jo, I hope you have a lovely time in Norfolk, maybe you’ll get to some of the places I’ve often been to over the years. 🙂

    1. Thanks a lot, Eunice. 🙂 🙂 I’ll not have a lot of time for touristing- it’s mostly a visit to see family. And I’ve been told to bring my dancing shoes. 🙂 Wishing you a healthy, happy 2018!

  5. Beautifully done, Jo.
Tough year for some, good for others. Let’s celebrate, be grateful for what we have and for those we love.
May the snow come back specially for you but please let me first catch my flight tonight, as we are still in London. Our connection flight was too late and we didn’t make to the next flight.
Enjoying a day at the Heathrow airport ….
    Warmly,
    Lucile

    1. I’ve slithered about enough for one day, Lucile. It looks very pretty when it’s fresh but then real life kicks in. 😦 Sorry about the flights! I’m not a fan of airports but I don’t mind a bit of plane spotting 🙂 🙂 Health and happiness, darlin! And safe travels 🙂

      1. Well, that’s of no use to despair, when bad weather is the reason for flight delays. I feel safer when waiting for a next flight with better weather conditions, even if it takes one extra day.
        Enjoying Heathrow for the day!
        Lots of hugs.

  6. What cheerful yarn bombing. And a worn out year is a good expression although I really feel I am not finished with 2017; it’s rushing out the door too soon. But time and tide wait for no man (or woman) so I best just get ready for 2018.

    1. Aye, best crack on, Ann! 🙂 🙂 This middle bit feels on go slow to me. Onwards to the next adventure! (but I do wish my husband would cheer up 😦 ) Wishing you a healthy year ahead and not so many struggles. And hugs!

  7. Such cute critters! Really love the first one and it has a bit of resemblance to the cartoon Shaun the Sheep 🙂 2018 wasn’t too bad for me, but it was a confusing one on some fronts, lol. Maybe 2018 will be the year where we can all have our cake and eat it. Happy New Year, Jo. Enjoy the time with the Polish family ❤

  8. Just the bookshop looks like a reason to go to Thirsk. And I love that seasonal yarn bombing.
Thanks for your lovely end of the year 6 words Jo – a great post to take us into a better New Year

    1. It’s a lovely little market square, Debs. I had intended to look inside St. Mary’s Church but it was closed. The volunteers are entitled to a Christmas break 🙂 🙂 Happy New Year to you!
