Would anyone like a marmalade sandwich?
I had my annual Christmas jaunt to Newcastle-on-Tyne this week, and a date with a very engaging character, in Fenwick’s shop window.
He got up to some very strange antics, but then, that’s Paddington Bear for you.
The windows are skilfully done and seldom disappoint, either children or adults. Really difficult to photograph, though.
Dawn loves a Lingering Look at Windows. Perhaps you do too. Why not join her? And please don’t forget to share six words with our Debbie. Whatever you do, have a great weekend! And if you love snow, I hope you have just the right amount.

Paddington Bear!!! It’s our favorite at the moment!

What a sweet treat these window scenes are. The cakes and the buns and the marmalade look good enough to eat. We have one shop in town which has a Christmas window but I haven’t seen it this year.

We’re all kids at heart, Ann. There are as many admiring adults as children. And I grew up with him. He even copies my decorating style. 🙂 🙂

You both have style, of course. 🙂

This is adorable Jo, do they do Paddington every year or something different? Your photos are brilliant and I know several small people who’d like to go to Fenwicks. Enjoy Leeds as well, safe journey and take a blankie and flask for the car x:-)x

They don’t look hard to photograph in your hands! His antics made me smile. I wondered what you were doing when you said you were off to Paddington Bear – without the escort of a child?

No child! Just a lady friend who’s nearly as silly as me. 🙂 🙂 Off to see ‘the child’ today in Leeds and hoping the weather won’t be too bad. We will have a sledge with us but that really won’t help much if we get stuck in snowbound traffic. Wish me luck!

I wish you retrospective luck. Is sledge the same as sled? And did you get a chance to use it???

Yes, and sadly no 😦 In some ways a good thing because our roads can be a nightmare in snow, but disappointing for logan. We watched small damp flakes come down all afternoon but no covering, then as we arrived home it started to snow and we have a couple of inches which have crisped up overnight. Don’t know about Leeds. Maybe he’ll get a chance to go to school on it today. Fingers crossed 🙂 🙂

Is all this snow unusual for you? Everyone, especially Tish, seems to be relishing it.

We often have an inch or two over the winter but because we’re coastal it seldom lingers. Tish has heaps but it’s a nightmare down south. It won’t be fun going to work in the London area this morning.

How cute. When I was young we had windows like this, but there are no shops in our city that do lovely Christmas windows any more. These are lovely.

What a shame, Carole! We still have a few in our cities. I’d love to see the London ones at this time of year (minus all those people 🙂 ).

Great photos, I just love Paddington and he looks so cute in those displays. Just a thought, when taking photos through windows have you tried putting the camera right up against the glass? That’s what I do – focus it first then lens up against the glass and I don’t get any reflections. It works for me even on a moving coach with all its vibrations but feel free to tell me to shut up if you’ve already tried it 🙂

If it’s a big display you can’t always focus on the bit you want but I have tried it and it does normally work. I was with a friend and didn’t have as much time as I’d like and those pesky children got in the way. How very dare they? Smiling x
