Playing with shadows in the woods
A nostalgic look at Autumn because I shan’t be here for most of it. Nice to remember it at its best, in dappled sun and shade (and each with six words, if you run the gallery). Dawn is sharing Festival of Leaves if you’d like to join in.
Next week I’m off to the Algarve again, for quite a long spell this time. I won’t be posting for a little while as I shall be without Internet. Sighs with relief! I have one more walk for you on Monday. Have a great weekend, and a wonderful Autumn, and I’ll be back when I can.
Meantime, Debbie is sharing some superb photos of Vietnam. Join her for Six Word Saturday?
Will miss you Jo. Wonderful travels to you. Look forward to seeing you when you return.

Hi Sheila. The break is a little enforced because we don’t have Internet at our Algarve home. A blessing more than a curse xx

I do miss the autumn colours in this sub tropical climate so I love doing a virtual walk through the woods with you Jo. I can hear the crunching leaves under foot and smell the crispness in the air, or maybe smell of smoke!!!!

Hiya Gilly 🙂 🙂 I left you a message on Whatsapp because the laptop has been playing up. I think it’s hinting it wants a rest so I’ll just have to comply. Thanks darlin. I’m always at the end of a phone for you.

Have a wonderful time ion the Algarve Jo. A lovely break and will look forward to your photos and stories when you return. Your autumn is slower to come than ours in Canada. We noticed a huge difference being in Ireland in the morning and Canada later in the day. Already some snowfall here.

You take leave with a flourish. Six words per caption is very clever. Have a splendid break. It seems as if we all need one. Farewell for now hugs

Ah, there’s no escape! I’ll be back Monday, and when the Internet is resolved I know I won’t be able to resist dropping in, if not posting. But I should have a wee while with peace and carefreeness 🙂 🙂 Thank you! Sunday morning hugs with coffee and the possibilty of breakfast. Love to the gang!

I know you’ll be there Monday. I may not. A full week ahead, and then he week after a writing week with a friend, trying to refresh my writing. Talked to the gang in the bush last night because no reception at J’s. The neighbours were out walking and thought we were “parking” in the old-fashioned sense of the word! Geology is exhausting me, but offering inexhaustible beauty, on pretty well empty beaches. How did I fit life in when I was blogging daily?? You enjoy your peace and carefreeness to the full. How long are you away for?

Always love autumnal colours and scenery Jo! I’m also going to be offline for a little while. Head off to the UK a week on Monday for Mum’s funeral and will be away about a couple of weeks. My dad does have WIFI internet but I’m staying with Mlle in a little guest wing in his apartment complex and not sure if there will be any there (though I should imagine Mlle will want to find some!). Obviously I don’t want to sit at dad’s on my iPad too much. Still cold for time of year here but warming up by end of next week so I shall be doing the reverse of you and heading to cooler climes. It’s the first time I have been over in the UK during autumn since I left (27 years ago!) so it will actually be lovely to see the colours and spend some time walking. Been over in spring many times, winter round Christmas and also summer but never for some reason autumn! Hope you have a lovely time in the Algarve – I will hopefully check out your Monday Walk this week and then reconvene early next month online. Take care xx

It sounds like you’re organised, hon. I can’t remember- do you have siblings in the UK or someone who is helping Dad with funeral arrangements? Such a sad but inevitable time, and hopefully you and Dad can share some wonderful memories. I saw a mini heatwave predicted here (relative, of course- the Gulf Stream monkeying about again 🙂 ) so you might even have some sunshine to accompany your Autumn walks. I hope you do! Take care of yourself hon.

That sounds very good Jo – a mini heatwave wonder what that means mid 20s?!!! Yes I do have siblings though my younger sister has special needs so she obviously can’t help but my brother has been doing most of the admin stuff and has been a big support for my dad. I’ve done what I can remotely and obviously we’ve chatted over arrangements by Skype and email. Yes I’ve been reflecting on Mum’s life – she really did have a fascinating one having been up in London during the war and she married very late for those days (mid 30s) so had quite a career before settling down. We had some friends over for a wake here last night (including Irish friends who turned up with whiskey not that I drank any but it was popular!) Monsieur put together a play list of some of Mum’s favourites – Beatles (around when I was born), some Rock n Roll and her absolute favourite Glenn Miller – she saw him play in London! Got “In The Mood’ going round in my head! Hope you enjoy the sunshine and it sticks around for the next couple of weeks or so! Have a lovely week xx

I hope you like it Jo! Can be annoying when you get a song fixed in your head but it’s such fun and so many people of all ages seem to love it!! Am sure the world would be a happier place if everyone went around humming that tune! 🙂

Beautiful captures of nature turning! Enjoy your time away from the internet, Jo. I used to think it would be really hard to ‘survive’ without internet, but it’s not that hard if the views are good. 🙂 Happy travels!

We just left the U.S. after a six week visit with family.. so sorry to have missed Autumn as I do love that time of year.. but it seems that summer got extended longer than usual. Chicago was uncharacteristically hot for September and early October. Oh enjoy the Algarve. How lovely!!
I love shadows and I love woods, so your photos make a great collection of two of my favorite things…

Hi Peta 🙂 🙂 Thought you hadn’t posted lately. That explains it. The colours are just starting to change here and there should be a few weeks of colour yet, but year to year it’s different. The Algarve has a more subtle version. 🙂
