The textures of life

Complicated things, people, aren’t we?  How is it that I absolutely adore to be surrounded by nature, knee deep in a field of lavender, as in my last post, yet still light up at the opulence of this ultra modern shopping mall?  The shapes and angles had me mesmerised.

So many textures make up a life.  Don’t get me wrong – I’m no shopper!  I simply popped in to Leeds’ latest shopping venue to find a loo.

  1. i love nature, Jo but like you, my eyes light up when i see the grandeur of modern architecture. and however complex it may be, like life, it can still be beautiful. great photos! 🙂

  6. Marvellous images for the challenge, Jo! Like you, I’m not a shopper, never have been, but I admire some of the modern architecture…though I usually prefer the old Victorian arcades.

    1. Leeds has both, and they’re my preference too, Sue, but I was scouting to see what I hadn’t used out of the ridiculous amount of photos I sometimes take, and these waved at me. 🙂 🙂

      1. I tore my ACL , I’m afraid…..so this summer is not a very happy one..

        …but , since in Milan the temperature is 100 F.and here a little less…let’s appreciate what we have!

      1. It’s great so far, Jo. I’m trying to pack a lot in during a short time, so it’s exhausting. It’s also very hot and humid. No more summer travels for me! I vow to only travel in fall, winter or spring from now on! That being said, it’s still great fun to be free and traveling. 😊

  9. You totally nailed it in textures! Fantastic photos and the architecture is perfect for the word texture! Yes, quite the contrast from the lavender fields!! Glad the potty was nice too 😂. I prefer to do my holiday shopping way before the season strikes as I hate overcrowded malls 😃 – stick me in a lavender field any day! 🙂

    1. I’m a bit of a demon for the charity shops, of which we have rather a lot locally. But I’m very much a hit and run shopper. My purse stayed safely in my pocket, with the moths. 🙂 🙂 Thanks very much!

  12. I’m always fascinated by textures in photos. Nature provides such a rich range if textures, but architecture can as well. Your photos are wonderful, Jo, and really do provide such a contrast to the lavender in your last post.

  14. I enjoy shopping centres particularly since the British weather makes it indoor shopping a lot easier. I don’t do a lot of shopping but enjoy people watching and just looking around. This one is beautiful. Love your photos 🙂

  19. Jo, yes you speak for me too. I am a nature girl and yet, I love interesting architecture, and design too. I hate shopping, unless it’s in a foreign country with interesting artisanal handmade items reflective of the particular country. Put me in the Luang Prabang market in Laos any time, I will enjoy “shopping”… maybe “strolling” is more apt in this case.

    That ceiling? where the light is filtering through, is just lovely! The glass roof is pretty cool too.

    1. I was traveling by coach from my daughter’s in Nottingham to my home. I had just half hour to ‘kill’ in Leeds before rejoining the bus. That fretted ceiling was over the stairwell to the loos. 🙂 🙂

  20. Oho! Maybe at last I’m first. I know exactly what you mean. I love the glitz and modernity of such places too, and you’ve showcased this one beautifully. I hope the loo was equally splendid. By way of contrast, I’m sitting in my $45 room in a pub in a tiny town looking out at delicious rain and waiting for a conversation with the Poles. I’m loving the rain although I suspect you wouldn’t welcome a rainy hug!
