Six word Saturday

It’s that time of year again!

Very cute, our seahorse, isn’t he?  Yet again the good folks of Saltburn by the Sea have decorated their pier with yarn bombing.  It’s a Summer tradition.  Are they in good Order?  I think I should let you be the judge of that.

There are some wild hairdo’s, aren’t there?  You can probably tell that there was a fresh breeze that day, but still lots of people.

Let’s end with a bit of a gallop, down by the sea.  Such skilled handiwork, as well as being completely adorable.

That’s it for another year.  The next day it simply poured, and has continued to do so.  The shopaholics amongst you will adore Debbie’s Six Word Saturday this week.  Me, I just want to go to Madrid!  Wishing you a happy weekend!

  1. I love the zebra seahorse and that woolly walrus and of course, the mermaids – especially the deep-sea diver one. I think they have surpassed themselves this year Jo. And it must have been a lovely warm day as I spied kids in cossies!! Foggy and damp here again and I have just been out in the garden collecting slugs and snails (UGGH!) before they eat all my lilies.

    1. It was a funny old day last Saturday! Started warm and hazy so there was an unusual number of families at the beach. Mick was working in the morning and by the time we got there it was cool and breezy, but as I remember we got the sun back later on. A properly uppy-downey week spent dodging in and out and watching tennis. BIG one tomorrow! Did you see the ladies final? I don’t often watch but this one was compulsive viewing. 🙂 🙂

      1. Watched the ladies, Halep really should have won it, but she wasn’t aggressive enough. The youngster really had nothing to lose so just went for it all guns blazing. I much prefer the ladies tennis without Serena there to dominate. Rafa will have a fight on his hands if Stan is playing to form.

  2. Your post has reinforced my conceit that too much exposure to salt water and fresh air can motivate people to do strange and wonderful acts of creativity. Absolutely priceless!

  4. What a coincidence. I am just planning my itinerary for my travels north next week and your post has reminded me that I want to visit that part of the coast. You have just given me inspiration for my drive home.

    1. Hopefully your weather will be much improved, Andrew. Always good to inspire somebody. 🙂 🙂 You’ll like Saltburn. The little train should be running through the Valley Gardens but it might be weekends only until we reach the Summer hols.

  5. Awwwwwww. I love stuffed animals and these are all so cute! Also a clownfish Nemo, mermaids and sea plants too 🙂 Hope all of them survive the wet weather and none of them get washed away to sea. All of them look like the are at home 🙂 Hope you are having a good start to summer. Here in Australia it is winter and hopefully it will be summer for us soon 😀 Have a good weekend ❤

  6. Oh that’s lovely, Jo! 🙂
And that seems to be the kind of beach I like for summertime: nice waves, refreshing water, surrounding cliffs, and not super crowded I guess!!
    Have a nice weekend! 😀

    1. It was busier than I’ve ever seen it, Eleazar, and it was nothing like warm! Hardy types, us northerners 🙂 🙂 Wet today. Hoping for better soon. Happy weekend to you too. Make the most of it!

      1. Thank you, Jo. After travel is before travel, I’m on my way to Germany to look after papers and more and from there to Norway to care of family matters. Sending you love and windy sunshine from Norfolk ❤

  8. Loved them all, but the white horses get my vote as best in bunch, Jo. Are you off to Madrid or is it merely a wish? You’ve made me wish to be there as well, just when I was reconciled to not going anywhere for a while. Think I shall have to have another browse through the photos to recall happy days and drift off into a world of travel.

    1. Wishful thinking, as always, Mari. 🙂 I only have to visit Debbie to provoke a serious attack of the wanderlust. She highly recommends Madrid.
The prancing horses were my favourites too, and I had a soft spot for the sea horse dressed as a zebra. 🙂 They will all be seriously soggy after today.

Love that these traditions have survived and hope they’ll continue for many , many years more…

    1. It’s a lovely thing to do, Anna. I always come away wishing I hadn’t put my knitting needles away, but I never do get around to getting them out again. Happy Saturday to you! Hope the weather is better than here. 🙂 🙂

  10. Wow! Now that is high class yarn bombing. I’ve seen a bit of it in cities, decorating trees and lampposts (and there was a little bit in Madrid’s botanic gardens yesterday), but I’ve never seen anything as good as this. And you have captured it wonderfully, Jo. Happy Saturday!

  11. Jo, these are simply delightful and have given my spirits such a lift this Saturday morning,😀😀 How creative, inventive – beautiful colours and designs! I was trying to pick my favourite of the animals but it’s impossible. The collage rug with the lovely writing ‘echoes of a million sea sheets’ is very special and a real work of art. Wishing you a relaxing weekend and may the weather become calmer and drier! 😀❤️ Ps. I’m forwarding this to my knitting friend, she’ll love these and being a Northerner may even have a chance to visit one year!

    1. The yarn bombing always seems to have an adverse effect on the weather, Annika. I remember similar last year. 😦 But they do seem to survive it well and they’ll be there all of what we loosely know as Summer. 🙂 🙂 Thank you for your appreciation. Hope your weekend is a happy one.
