Saying goodbye to Six Word Saturday

And where better to finish with a flourish than Florence?  I hope I’ve taken you on a beautiful journey, but my philosophy here has always been to please myself.  And doing just that has given me many hours of pleasure.

Cate has announced that she will be ending Six Word Saturday on 1st April, April Fool’s Day. I’m pretty sure that it’s not a trick, because my lovely friend Debbie at Travel with Intent has volunteered to take it over on April 8th.  Since I won’t be around then, I thought I’d say my farewells now. Come and celebrate with me?  There’s gelato!

There doesn’t seem to be anything that Florence can’t offer.  All the sculpture and art you could want.  Architecture that dreams are made of. Gardens and vistas to sooth your soul.  Food and wine to indulge your palate.  Have I missed anything?  Well, maybe a little desultory window shopping. I even found a cookery school in the Mercato Centrale!  Click on the gallery for a closer look?

And as I ambled back to my hotel on Via Nazionale, this little beauty!

Sad to see her go, but I wish Cate the very best of luck.  I know it’s not easy running a challenge, but if anyone can then it’s Debbie.  The lass has energy to burn.  As for me, I’m off to my lovely Algarve tomorrow. Time to relax and wind down a little.

Meanwhile I’ve scheduled a Jo’s Monday walk for next Monday. Have a great weekend and I hope to see you then.

  1. Oooh, Official Photographer! I hope that went exceedingly well. That would worry me silly – I’d forget to put a card in my camera, or something stupid like that.
    I can see that Florence was a perfect place for you – I can really feel your enjoyment.
    i hope you have a relaxing time in the Algarve. Enjoy and I look forward to your return (and a glimpse of the 100th celebrations)

    1. It was a bit of a nightmare, Debs! A camera I’d never seen before, quick read of the instructions and hope for the best. 😦 I don’t think I even want to see the results but the lovely lady had a great night. I think you’re right- Florence suited me very well 🙂 Almost forgotten how it feels to be in the Algarve… 🙂

I’ll enjoy your return as much as you enjoy your adventures in your second home. I left a hug on the doorstep. Did you get it?

  7. Well you’ve certainly pleased me – as if you could do anything else! There are some odd metal things, the fountain that’s a cockerel with a demon thingy, and what are the rings, one with a dragon, somewhere to tie your horse? Have a good time tonight, I’m sure your photos will be fab, I’ve never met a centenarian lady. Perhaps you ‘ll have a rest this afternoon in preparation for your overnight endurance test 🙂 Enjoy, I’ll miss you x:-)x

    1. A horse or a prisoner, I suspect, Gilly. They were a bit rough and tough in those days 😦 I did have a bit of a sit in the garden, watching the washing dry 🙂 🙂 Absolutely gorgeous today!       1. Thanks, hon! Full on day today- print boarding passes, zumba and then I’m ‘official’ photographer at a 100th birthday party. Catching the plane early morning and the clock goes forward! Be there before I know it 🙂

    1. I’m trying not to think about it, Becky! (the camera 🙂 ) Got collywobbles in my stomache. Radiant sunshine here today. Just off to print my boarding passes and then a lovely walk through the blossomy park to zumba. 🙂 🙂
