Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Could there be a more obvious six words for today? I sit beside my twinkly tree, shopping done and presents wrapped. The absence of one present troubles me. He’s not here to share, and his place at the Christmas table can’t be filled.
Treasure your loved ones and the time spent together. For most of us that is what Christmas is all about. I’ll eat and I’ll drink and I’ll try to be merry, and yet not burn the sprouts. And I’ll raise a toast to you, my WordPress friends. We’ve come a long way together. Wishing you all a joyful Christmas, and for 2017… all you wish yourself!

Thinking of your this Christmas, Jo. ❤

Are these all your decorations? I love the robin. Grandkids about to arrive – with tree, so chaos will descend in about 15 minutes!! M-i-L taken into hospital last night, mini stroke and fell, broke hip. Couldn’t have come at a worse time. Anyway, I know your Christmas will be tinged with sadness, but try and remember all the good times shared. Peace and joy to you and yours. And not long before you head off into the sunshine again xx

Thanks Dina, it appears to be a lot less serious than first thought and she will be home this week, which is a relief.

Oh, no! She’s in Worcester, isn’t she? That isn’t easy. Poor David! No, they’re not mine, Jude. ‘Borrowed’ from the garden centre where I saw the reindeer. Last Christmas I used my own ornaments. Heaven knows where those photos are now. 🙂 Thanks, darlin’. I hope it all goes well for you.

She lives in Shrewsbury and is in Telford hospital, but hip not broken only bruised so she is expected home later this week. Looks like a trip north soon.

It is what it is Jo, she turned 93 this month so we have been lucky that she has managed so long.

It would help if she was nearer to you, but you will move to the back of beyond! Nice beyond, of course 🙂 Any chance of moving her closer? Wouldn’t be fair on her, I don’t suppose. Consoling hugs! Nice day yesterday and did you get your Boxing Day beach trip today? Bitter here!

She was the reason we moved back to Shropshire from the south-east as she needed help. We didn’t intend to stay there 5 years and go back into rental as we’d paid off our mortgage. We decided we had to be selfish and go where we wanted to be whilst we still could. She could live another 10 years. We might not. We have thought of moving her down here, but think the upheaval would be too much, plus we spent years getting the support she required in place. On a positive note we did get our Boxing Day walk along the cliffs at Chapel Porth. Lovely blue sky, quite warm and wonderful huge waves!! Nice to get some fresh air!

Thanks Yvette. Apparently she hasn’t broken her hip, just bruised so she will be home this week.

Merry Christmas again Jo – a fine resolution – ‘don’t burn the sprouts’. Actually, roasting them in olive oil and sprinkled with chinese five spice powder is the only way I will tolerate them i.e. slightly burnt 🙂

We’d often go into Newcastle on Xmas Day, and walk by the Tyne. So nice and quiet. Boxing and/or NYD were usually up to Northumberland somewhere. Although invariably busier than Newc on Xmas Day! I can’t believe the fuss people make though over a day or so.

What a lovely tree Jo, and such heirlooms ornaments. I specially love the owl and the snowman. I feel for you in the absence of your beloved father. With sparkly hugs to add to the tree, and a comforting-although-there -is-no-comfort hug direct to you.
