‘But Peter, who was very naughty…’
Every year I look forward to Fenwick’s Christmas windows in Newcastle-on-Tyne. Rarely do they disappoint. This year they celebrate 150 years of Beatrix Potter. What could be finer? Come window gazing with me.
What would life be without Jemima Puddle-duck? Or handsome Jeremy Fisher?
We all have our favourites. These cats look rather mean to me but the details are simply delicious.
And I can almost hear the squeaks of those tailoring mice. Every year the Anticipation is the same, and every year they deliver. I hope you won’t be disappointed. Let’s put Peter to bed, shall we?
Share your six words this Saturday, and have a happy weekend.

Thank you so much dear Johanna, you almost took me there too 🙂 I am sure, I couldn’t have left the window there… So beautiful. I watched the film about Beatrix Potter’s life and I never forget. I love her so much. I have original story books of Peter Rabbit in my precious and humble library. Happy Holidays, Love, nia

Hi Sherri 🙂 I’m just trying to do a bit of catch up on here after being out all day yesterday. I hesitate to say that I elbowed the kids out of the way to get a good look, but… almost 🙂 Merry Christmas, darlin!

What a great display! Malina, who is nearly three and is lucky enough to have the collection of books and audio tapes (car boot sale 2008), immediately spotted Peter and Mummy Rabbit, not to mention many of the other characters as she came to sit on my knee.
I have to agree, those cats do look a little sinister.

So glad Malina enjoyed them, Eddy 🙂 I needed a 3 year old to enjoy those windows with me.

This reminds me of the fabulous David Jones windows in Sydney – two years ago now! Oh, how I wish I was there. I do have a soft spot for Peter Rabbit, but wasn’t keen on some of the books. Thank you for showing us these lovely scenes 🙂

It’s just a cheap one. Size and weight was a priority but maybe should have spent a little more. I’d still be bamboozled tough 🙂

I love Christmas windows and this display is gorgeous. We used to have a big window display here but when the store was remodelled many years ago the big windows went and that was the end of that. 😦 I remember going every year with Mum and Dad to see the display. I’ll be in Melbourne after Christmas with Marsha and the Myer store in Bourke Street Mall has a wonderful Christmas window display every year. I’d forgotten it would be on while we are there, so thanks for reminding me!

We were just talking about Fenwicks the other day! Mum said she was always worried she wouldn’t find her way out. I found the area after the entrance from Northumberland Street very claustrophobic – narrow and low-ceilinged, though perhaps it’s all been done up since then. We always loved the Christmas windows and these ones look splendid.
